    Beovox 1001?

Anybody have any insight whether the Beovox 1001 is a worthwhile speaker? I have an option of getting a pair (haven't seen them yet) but I couldn't really find any practical information on them other than the short bit on Beocentral. These would probably be paired with my Beomaster 900M.

    Hi tournedos

I wouldt not byu them. There are only fitted with one driver(speaker) and the sound is nothing to write home about They are nice looking, but I would only use them as "kitchen speakers). It's just my opinion

The Beovox 1001 are two-way speakers, have Peerless and SEAS drivers and are
actually very well-sounding for their size.
I've used a pair at work everyday for 10 years or more, driven by a Beomaster 901 and
countless visitors commented on their pleasant sound.
They would sound great with a Beomaster 900M and they are becoming quite rare
so worth hanging on to if in good condition. Also quite unique with their metal-front grills.

    Re: Beovox 1001?

"Pleasant sound" is a very good description Martin.

I had a pair in teak which I gave away to someone who bought a TV from me on ebay. I should really have kept them but didn't really have the room so it was really a mutual favour that he took them away. He wanted them and it wasn't really worth my time listing them on ebay for the price they would have reached.

If I had room for them I would have kept them and along with other speakers from this era they are much better sounding than they look with their (rather boring) boxy image.

To be fair though I don't own a suitable amp to drive them from so my judgement may be slightly clouded although if they'd been in white I would have hung on to them....

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Thanks for the comments. The asking price is quite low so I'll probably get them if they are externally nice - I have a use for something flatter than my Beovox 2200's, which are so deep that they look silly wall mounted...

The 2200's are also quite good speakers but of course, better suited for shelve use.
The 1001's have fittings at the backside for wallmounting, both horizontal and vertical.

    hi guys,

i too have (2) pairs of 2200's... wonderful little speakers! but, yes, i agree: they are way too deep for wall hanging (unless you wanted them to double as wall sconces!). the 1001's would be perfect for that and w/o specs seemingly anywhere, my guess would be that the sound would prob be very similar... and i like the metal look... "look ma, no fret pulls!"

    go for it!

Well, the offer was for a Beovox 1001, not a pair! Laughing That'll teach me to read twice... anyway, it sounded and looked good; if it had been a pair, I would've still paid double the asking price and got them.

The Beolit 1000 I actually went to pick up will be really nice after I clean it though Big Smile

Thanks, but I believe the postage would be twice the worth of the speakers - I'll keep on looking for something local.
