    Bedroom setup advice needed.

Was looking at one of the used b&o sites, the beocenter av5 and the 28inch avant both seem to fit the space.

Has anyone heard the sound from them? which one sounds nicer?

They are both excellent - the AV5 does have a rear facing sub woofer though. The AV5 is a bit odd though - no video source ! And 4:3 aspect. I would get the Avant unless the AV5 is cheap!

Good question that, I would think the avant.  I think they are like a set of lab4000's

Go for the Avant, unless you need the sound sources of the AV5

I had the same thoughts, and decided to get a Beocenter 1, same price, video source, everything built in, powerful sound, a good compromise between the two (avant and AV5)

If i could go back and choose, i would have found an AVANT 28 , because i know am masterlinked, and the AVANT could access all those sources, with a bigger better picture.

    Re: Bedroom setup advice needed.

I’ve had an Avant 28’ for years in our bedroom and was/am quite happy with it – it’s, of course, (quint)essential to have your bedroom linked … J

However, at the moment I’m considering another solution: Beoport (video enabled), large LCD screen, wireless keyboard and mouse plus a pair of speakers.

Now, beside the LCD screen, I already have everything needed even a spare BL2, but why not second hand BL4000, or other speakers, in your case. They will not date as fast as an an Avant!

    -          The Beoport (and the computer) are hidden , so what you see is the speakers and the screen – and the IR eye. Arguably less bulky than Avant, and much better sound.

    -          It gives you (subjectively) more flexibility, in that you on the same screen can go through you music library and make your playlists while surfing on the internet – or work  – from your bed. Plus all other benefits of a link room …

    -          The video quality (on a full screen) is not that impressive in the case of Beoport, but neither is the picture on a linked TV set.

Every setup has it’s pros and cons, it’s fortunate that with B&O there are usually several options available …

All the best finding the right solution!

(Anyone has the setup as outlined? Your experience would be interesting!)

I had an mx3500 but changed to an Avant 28" - excellent sound and picture, links in properly and by the time you've put the MX on top of something takes about the same amount of space.

I used to have a white MX5500 in the bedroom - lovely tv well suited to a bedroom role IMHO.

But too heavy to take to Moscow, so I'm instead wallmounting a 24" imac, which gives TV, other media/music, DVD, internet, and will be connected up to some nice B&O speakers  (when we decide on which.... Unsure]

Add in a wireless keyboard and control via my iphone and Natalia's ipod touch, it is a setup that will compliment the rest of the B&O without being too compromised.

    Go for the Avant.....

My son has a BC1 in his bedroom and we have a 14" Sony CRT built into the wall... guess who's happier!!!!

I'm actually very pleased with the BC1, sound is very good and I personally don't mind 4:3 and it will hopefully last him at least another 10 years!
