    WTB: Beosystem 4500

Hi there.  I've spent the past month attempting to track down one of my childhood dream systems, a Beosystem 4500.  Unfortunately my search hasn't had much luck.  Ideally I'd like to find a complete system, including the Beogram.  I am however willing to accept that may not happen and would be happy to start with a subset of a complete system.

I'm in the Seattle, WA area and more than happy to pay shipping costs for a system.  I have the perfect placement for it, and the Carver setup (another childhood fantasy realized) is patiently waiting to be 'relegated' to my office.

If someone here is willing to part with one, or has tips/suggestions on where and how to locate a system I'd be quite grateful.

    Thanks!

    -Robert

To those from Europe that replied, thank you.  I'm okay with shipping, but have no idea how I'd convert the product to a 120v power supply.  Also, there are 9x00's for sale in the area I live, but I have my heart set on a 4500 setup.  Thank you.

    Hi Robert

    Here is your answer.

This device will convert your 110v in the wall to the 220v needed by a European Beosystem 4500.

You can get cheaper ones, but you need one with a large current rating because the amplifier when playing loud takes quite a bit of current, and it may fry one of the $9.99 ones...

I used one of these in reverse mode (to run a 110v amp here in England) and had no problems whatsoever with it.

Hope this helps - and welcome to Beoworld!

PS: I should also add that I lusted after and owned a full 4500 system including the Beogram, and it was delightful.  I wish I'd kept it...

I may have a Beosystem 4500 in my basement, all packed up.  I'll check and let you know.

    Found!

    Thank you Jeff!

Now on to locating just the right set of speakers.... Red Line's for the authentic look, or some Orb's for that discreet modern touch?

    Orbs? Unsure   What are they?!!

Anyway - I would indeed recommend some RedLines as a 'period speaker' - I would throw caution to the wind and get some RL140's Devil

Failing that, the 60.2's are a good middle ground.

Welcome to BeoWorld, and congrats on getting a 4500 system - they're lovely!

    Lee:

Thanks for the advice.  Below is a snapshot of the Orb speakers.  Here's a link.  I see RL 60.2's frequently enough...that may be the less expensive but quite pleasing option.

it tore me apart as it was always classified as a keeper, but i am sure it is headed to a good home!

re: orb's... i honestly have not heard them, but i actually have (7) gallo's in a second non b&o surround setup. from what i have read, they are comparable, perhaps better??? regardless, i can recommend them highly! you will be amazed (shocked) at the sound that comes from them... they are so tiny! the only suggestion (if you like lots of bass) would be to add a sub, but even w/o -they still sound spectacular.

re: b&o's... hard to complain about the rl140's... but have you considered any of the bl or bv3000-5000 "mondrian" panels? together with the 4500... drool!

oh, and if haven't said it yet to you, welcome to beoworld!

    talk to you soon...

    Re: WTB: Beosystem 4500

Someday I'll own a pair of Gallo Nucleus Reference 3.1's .... but the 4500 took priority.  Smile

The B&O panels are also interesting options....and would (if all mounted together) make for a massive wall of Danish goodness.

I will be keeping my eyes open for those or the RL's...but the Gallo / Orb option is interesting also.  Thanks for the thoughts, and the purchase.
