    Beomaster 2400 US2902

Hi Folks, I'm new to the forum, and fairly new to B & O. I recently picked up a Beomaster 2400 US2902 receiver. It seems to be working well for the most part. It came with a remote, which is not working, but I think this may be the battery. My question is regarding the lamps. Should the bass, treble and balance light up? Also under the stainless steel cover, should there be any lamps illuminating the FM tuning section or anywhere else?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers Moses Lawn

    hi moses,

    welcome to beoworld!

the 2400 is a great piece, congrats! in the usa, right? then... the remote battery is available for order from radio shack or battery outlets... usually not something stocked.

re: the lights, first there are none present under the lid. they only exist on the exterior, for volume, tone controls (these, the B/T/B, will always be lit when not in standby), sources, etc... if you need them, member: "dillen" can source the correct ones for you. he also has a highly recommended cap replacement kit for the 2400 w/ excellent instructions. i redid a 2400 several years ago w/ his kits and it is as new. well worth it.

let us know how you get along!

p.s. you need some beovox s45's!

Hi Burantek, Thanks for the kind welcome, and advice on the lamps. Being a complete newbie to the Beomaster 2400, and having no manual, this forum will be invaluable I'm sure! Can I ask you one more question based on your last reply. You mentioned the Bass, Treble, and Balance lamps should be on when not in "standby". Neither of the three are lit up, when the radio is playing, so I'm assuming i'm not in "standby". Is the standby control the touch control to the right of the FM 5 control?

One last question....... Can I hook up a CD player through the tape input providing I can find the correct cable? Thanks again. Moses

    that is correct.

with the unit powered, and the on/off switch to on, you should be in "standby" mode. a small red light will be on, above the red "O" standby button. you would normally leave the BM in this low power state. you simply press the source desired, and viola, on it comes w/ the red light going out! simply tapping the red "O" again will put it back into standby.

absolutely. you will not have any control of it via the remote, but it will work fine. if your cd player has rca outs, then you will need a "rca->din adapter" as this BM does not have rca inputs. i have also used a "minijack->din adapter" (for ipod). with that, i was able to plug up not only an ipod, but itunes via airport express, as well as sound out from my mac. member: "steve at sounds heavenly" (link at bottom of this page on right) can likely help with adapters.

if you decide you want to expand, the BG4004 turntable will work with your remote. on the tape side, though there were BC1900/2400's that were paired w/ the bm2400, i prefer the cosmetic near match of the BC2000.
