    Beogram 4000 tonearm issue

    hi all, I have a self generated issue with my bg 4000, that is, totally caused by my ineptitude.

    while repositioning the belt, I have mistakenly altered the position of the screw of the aluminium cylinder that only now I understand regulates the arm dropping time. as a result of that (or, so I believe) the arm does not drop at all. before my genius-like intervention, all was ok. can anyone help me?

    thanks,

    leonardo

    Leonardo,

    I noticed your PM with the same content. Let's take it in public, others may benefit from what we find out;

    Remove power from the Beogram.
    Can you operate the solenoid, piston and its metal arms by hand ?
    When/if you do, does the arm lift/lower accordingly ?

    hi martin,

    thanks for coming to my rescue,

    it does, a bit forcefully, but then comes immediately back up. clearly, whatever controls the descent is not working.

    Is the solenoid (electric coil that activates the arms), doing anything when the arm is supposed to lower ?

    Do you have a voltmeter ?
