'10k' - About the Members!
We asked a series of questions here on the forums, and i'm deighted to say we had a really lovely range of members send us emails - from the regular user to the infrequent poster.
Throughout this thread, we will be posting their answers and giving an insight into where they live, what they do, how they found BeoWorld and what first got them hooked!
First up is BeoWorld Member 'Steph', and here are his answers! We will be adding more today, tomorrow and over the next few days
----------------------
1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
I discoverd a B&O product for the first time in a movie (Absolute power - 1997). It was a BS9000. After that, i've wanted to learn more about the product, i was really "dumbfounded" !
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
It was in 2000, and it was a light blue BeoSound1
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
I was in computer training and still i am
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
I live in a urban modern flat
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
I think it was in 2005.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
Very very good, very dynamic, lots of people with good reflections and answers
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
I'm surfing BeoWorld every day, several times a day !! It's an addiction !
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
Really, it's very good and very informative. Lots of topics, articles, gifts, ... it's amazing !
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
No, just go on, you're fantastic !
10) Finally, define Bang & Olufsen in one single word...
Astounding !

Re: '10k' - About the Members!
Now for BeoWorld Member 'benoit' !!
---------------
1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
I had seen B&O products in multibrand shops when I was a child but the first 'real' contact was during my studies in the house of the parents of a study mate. It was a Beosytem 6500 with RL speakers and a magic Masterpanel. At this time (1991), I fell in love with B&O and I knew that I'll buy something later.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
I bought a Beosound Century after Chrismas 1993.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
I was a student at the univesity. Now I'm a pharmacist.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
I live in a city (600000 inhabitants), in a small trendy flat.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
I found an internet link in google while I was looking for informations about B&O.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
I was quite happy to find a community about my favorite brand of that time.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
I was very interested to read the informations about new products and I came back quite quickly to watch the news.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
I would like to have a dealer list with a rating (maxi 1 vote possible /member and /dealer) in order to make statistics to know if they are reliable, if they provide a good instalation or aftersale service, ...
I also would like to see more informations (and photos) about new products; but I know that this is independant from Beoworld.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Continue to be as dynamic and good as you are now!
10) Finally, define Bang & Olufsen in one single word...
I cannot give just one single world. Till 2006 it was : DESIGN. After I would say EXPENSIVE or EXCLUSIVE.

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O
products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
First experience was at Peter Scott's in South Street Exeter in about 1975. My dad was always in there planning his next purchase. one of our near neighbours ran it and over the years great things came and went including a beomaster 4400 and some huge beovox which dad used to scare the neighbours with by playing Buddy rich at full whack. Peter Scott's is now a Chinese restaurant!
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
My own first B&O was a Beosound Century bought in Solihull from a crazy Italian dealer in about 1993. You bought it off me incidentally!
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
At the time I worked for BMG records (of Simon Cowell fame!) and now I'm a guard for Great Western
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
I live in very rural Devon and it's defiantly and resolutely non trendy!
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
Can't remember first visit to Beoworld but it's changed identity several times since, like James Bond and Doctor Who!
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
I seem to remember it not working that well with my Macintosh but that it always had masses of useful information. It's certainly come on in leaps and bounds since then.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
Sort of answered that above. Yes beoworld was always a site to return to and is always on my visit every day list.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
I would say it needs to continue to evolve gradually and to keep on listening to its members. It's already one of the friendliest and most helpful websites out there and just needs to keep on in this vein. It's also good to see the relationship grow with B&O grow but I wouldn't like to see the site's independence threatened by this going too far. I would hope that Beoworld will always be able to say when a product is a stinker (and yes there are a few!)
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
I'm not the person to advise the people who run the site. They do a great job and need support rather than advice. I've also let my gold membership lapse so feel giving any advice would be a bit cheeky, a bit like when somebody on one of my trains complains about something only for me to find they haven't bought a ticket!
10) Finally, define Bang & Olufsen in one single word...
enlightening

I don't think it can

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
This has been in my grandparents house - they have a great number of B&O items around the house. When I was less than 7 years old my grandfather showed me his Beocord open-reel recorder. I remember how he was trying to teach me how to use it but I was a bit afraid to even touch the deck! But I liked the green leader tape that was showing from the reel and turning around. I also remember being in some store with him and seeing a strange-looking tv that had two loudspeakers that slided out of the bottom....
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
My first B&O was a Beocord 1500 De luxe open-reel recorder that I bought in 2005. It was from a local internet auction with mis-spelled name so I got it for less than 30 EUR.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
In 2005 I was still in school. I was already then interested in open-reel recorders. Now I am having my non-military civilian service at my old school. I and my collegue are running the IT departement and I am responsible for the AV-systems of the school. Outside that a friend of mine runs a shop called Classic Audio that trades vintage audio equipment and I repair things for him and sometimes buy B&O stuff from there, too. (Not to mention the Beolab Pentas I just bought some weeks ago).
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
I live in Ruoholahti, Helsinki central area. My neighbourhood is quite modern but there are many old buildings around the central areas of Helsinki. For example my school was built in 1905.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
Most likely it was when I got the BC1500 DL and I was searching for information about it.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
I remember the site when I first visited; it was quite simple and easy to get into. Then the site was updated to it's current form and that's when I registered to the forums.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
I found out what I wanted and I did came back very soon as I started to get interested in B&O.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
The products section might have some new functions. I'd love to have a possibility to add opinions and reviews for the products. Also some usual points of defects and their repair instrucions could be shown there with links to appropriate threads on the topic.
Also a "Show your installation of this item" -style page for peoples having the machine in question to show their installations of it. Users could mark items "I have this item" and this way the products could be rated by rarity.
The Workbench and vintage sections might benefit from a new section: "Success stories" (much like the one on www.vintage-radio.net).
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Keep up the good work. The news-section seems to be rarely upgraded (now it's almost a list of prize draw notifications). The grey top-bar on the forum section could be changed (same style as on the front page?)

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
See Question 2 !!
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
1971 (As a 21 year old) - I wandered into a local dealer and bought a Beogram 1001 as part of my first Hi fi (I won't tell you what else I bought!)
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
(I was a bum - my parents had died 4 years earlier and I had just inherited some money so I travelled for a bit and listened to music) I'm now an old fuddy duddy Human Resources Manager (but still a bum at heart)
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
A village 5 miles from Exeter in Devon. Sleepy!
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
A year or so ago and I must have been googling B&O!
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
I found it slightly difficult to work out (I spent more time on the Jarman Brothers Beocentral site - easier to navigate and more iconoclastic as far as products were concerned)
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
I slowly became more comfortable with it, joined as a basic member and recently updated to Gold - you must be doing something right!
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
Remember I am a getting on a bit and by nature very 'analogue' rather than digital. I find the forums a great source of information etc, but the search facility seems to be too imprecise. I was looking for stuff on the Beocenter 2 and got everything with Beocenter in it! Now I may be doing something wrong, but the usual syntax available eg in Google doesn't work - (using Inverted commas to define the search more specifically.)
I have started to get a feel for some of the regular contributors, and have had useful tips from them, especially Peter , but then you know his popularity already. He seems to be a most thoughtful and helpful soul - I'd like him as my GP!
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Could BeoWorld act as some sort of catalyst for setting up local BEO user groups in regions? (there may be for all I know) I would really like to find some local B&O enthusiasts, particularly those who own and use some of the classic products from the 70s and 80's and which I would be keen to hear and compare with more recent products (I'm stuck in 1991 - Beosystem 2500, Beosystem 10, LX5500, MX1500, Form 1s, Form 2s along with some A8s and a recent pair of A9s for my Ipods)
10) Finally, define Bang & Olufsen in one single word...
Impossible!

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
Thinking back I can recall playing around with a rosewood Beomaster 2000 (70's) that my mom's parents had and it may be the late '70s or something. My dad's youngest sister was still living at my other grandmother (her mom) while she in 1979 bought a Beogram 2200 and a pair of Beovox S45-2. I do recall those while visiting during the years since then.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
I think it was around 1995 that I got a Beogram 1202 which I still have but not in use. My mom gave it to me as my parents changed the stereo system. First bought? Beogram 2000 (80's)around 2002/3? To replace the 1202 but don't know why.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
Then looking for a job or school. Now looking for a job.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
New big apartment in a new city in the western part of Denmark.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
Searching on the web in 2003.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
Wow my Beogram 2000 is only part of a system? I got to get the rest for the BC9000 someday. Great to see the many products and helpfull members.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
I never really gone away. Always keeping an eye on what is happening on a nearly daily. As for doing yes bringing me in touch with Dillen which was crucial to get the Beolab 8000 system in order and keep my B&O interest intact/ up to date.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
Keep doing it.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Keep the faith you are doing a great job.

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
In Windows of the Central Arcade Newcastle, I was about 7 and totally hooked.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
First piece was a Beocentre9300 with BL2500 - must have been 1995 from University Audio in Cambridge
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
I was a web project manager for Pipex, now, nothing as redundant but now am a Programme Manager
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
Now live in Auckland New Zealand, in the area know as Eden Terrace, it's urban in town and in the older part of Auckland. The house dates from 1880, which is one of the earliest houses in NZ.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
No idea must have been a google thing, I'm guessing at least 2001, if it was about then?
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
Good site, with lively discussions and helpful people, a nice change from the official B&O site where the only conversation was how rude sales staff are and how expensive it is.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
It does fill a knowledge as well as comfort gap, especially now am the otherside of the damn planet with not many around to help here on the ground :o ) I try to check in at least daily to see the threads n latest news.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
Apart from getting that damn robot to draw more winners from NZ? ;o ) Maybe think about an irc channel or some other type of chat where those online can do realtime? Although saying that it may reduce the forums, which are excellent. Maybe have online one a week or something?
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Nope u guys are the best ;o )

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
My first time ever seeing a B&O product was at my parents friends house, BM 1900, Beovox S55, BG 4002, BC 2400. It was at first the most bizarre thing I had ever seen, completely different to anything other hifi I had ever come across. I was about 12 years old. We used to watch movies at her house I can remember staring at the B&O instead of watching the movie and thinking how amazing it would be if i had something like that of my own. Big dreams for someone so young.
Years went by and when I was about 18 she emmigrated and she started to pack all her furniture and my parents often went to see her before she left. One day I was chatting to my parents and my Dad said that he wonders if she found someone to give the B&O to. I almost fell over and phoned her immediately. She said she still had the B&O and I could have it, I made my Dad take me to fetch it straight away. I couldnt believe it. The speakers had foam rott, but I managed to have them repaired after lots of saving!
I don't think she will ever know what a difference that gift made to my life. Not only was it the most precious thing I have ever owned but I also was ill for a couple of years and stayed mostly at home and that B&O set became my best friend and obsession. I eventually mounted the Beomaster on the wall and when they used to play music on the Radio at 20:00 every night for an hour without any breaks, I used to switch off all the lights in my room and listen the beautiful sound coming out of the B&O and look at the lights shining from the Beomaster it was awesome!!
My fate was sealed, I would treasure anything B&O from then on. I am now well and still have my original B&O set but of course have many more B&O products now.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
My first B&O was obviously the set mentioned above. The first B&O I ever bought was a Beocentre 7002 which I bought for 22 pounds and sold it for 222 pounds a year later!! That guy REALLY wanted it!
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
I was still not 100% well so I used to work part time at a pizza take away I am now the manager of a 5 star guest house on the beach. www.cowriecoveguesthouse.co.za
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
Well I still live with my folks and about 3 minutes from work. Its an upmarket residential area (Suburbs)
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
I found the original Beoworld when trying to find out more information about B&O, stumbled across it on Google
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
I was amazed to see that so many people liked B&O, that there was so much information available. Obviously the new Beoworld has even more information and more people willing to help.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
I have never left Beoworld. There is rarely a day that goes by that I don't log in to see whats happening. Its like checking my e-mail, I do it every day.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
I really can't think of anything at the moment. Maybe to keep adding information about products and manuals.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Just keep making it a friendly place where everyone is just as important whether you own one 70's beomaster or the lastest release and to never forget its all about B&O!!!
10) Finally, define Bang & Olufsen in one single word...

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
When I stepped in to Harrods and saw the BS 9000 in action as the arm rapidly skipped from one disc to another. I knew then that I would buy only B&O. As an engineer my mind was in a whirl with the engineering possibilities and design behind this mechanism. I always appreciated that to make things simple you really have to have very complex workings behind the scenes. To reliably get to each of the 6 CDs quickly and simply each time over and over again just blew my mind.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
I saved and saved for 9 years and walked in to the B&O dealership in Cambridge and went "I'll have one of those and one of those and one of those...you should have seen the look on the showroom staff's faces. I bought on the spot a BV5, BS 9000, a set of Lab 5s, a set of Lab 3s a BS 2, a yellow Beocom 2, an answer-phone. and a Serene and they threw in an A9 key ring :-(
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
I was a management consultant in London following an MBA. Ran my own consulting partnership that financed my emigration to Australia where I now live with my family. I now work for an American (someone has to) software company in Melbourne.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
Melbourne Australia. Great quality of life. My two boys are into their sport. Just 10 miles as the crow flies out of the City.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
Probably 1997 as I started to plan my B&O purchase. I was determined that I would walk in and buy one of each, a key principle being that I would buy the flagship model of each, so I got the Lab 5s, BS 9000 and BV 5 in 2004.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
the site worked then but very clunky and used to get clogged up much more. Now its a great site under your stewardship and of course it continues to be absolutely invaluable top the point where even B&O recognise and respect the site and its critical mass of opinions. I noticed today a flyer from B&O headlining an interview with you. Nuff said !!!
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
Yes it did but it does it even better now and thank god for Peter, Nobby, You and people like Keith S et al.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
Perhaps an area (secured with you and the moderators retaining editorial rights) where you could received strong opinions and feedback on products and send these to B&O. Clearly their own customer site simply does not work and is the one thing unbecoming of such a great company.wardship is much appreciated and I would like to see a direct line from you to B&O where they receive true feedback worthy of making their products even better.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Other than keeping up the good work, how about a secure area to get key opinions that would feed directly to B&O for their product development.
10) Finally, define Bang & Olufsen in one single word...

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
That would be my father's Beosystem 1000 - one of the first black-key Beomaster 1000's in the country (the trial version we tested had white keys), Beogram 1000, Beovox 1500's, and a Beocord 1500 deluxe. That became my benchmark for what a hi-fi should sound like.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
A Beocenter 8500, Beogram 3300, and Redline 45's - in 2006, from LifeStyle AV. Matt delivered it and made sure it was all working okay before he left.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
Still in same job - working in British Airways' IT department, UNIX systems capacity management.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
Earls Court - centre of London, I guess that makes it urban.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
Probably Google. My old hi-fi was starting to die (Rotel, with a Marantz record deck) and the sound never really had that wow factor that my Dad's B&O had anyway, so I decided to get B&O too. I used the site to help me decide what to get and what worked with what.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
It was good - the products section was comprehensive and informative, and the forum friendly.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
Yes - I've been very happy with my first B&O setup. I joined up before buying that first setup - the Connoisseurs section had a very useful set of user manuals that I also used to help me make my choices. I've since expanded the first setup with speakers throughout the flat (Beovox, of course) and also have a few vintage setups (CDs taken care of with Sony discmans, which do the job and are small and discrete.) BeoWorld helped with choices and fixing problems.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
A better integration of the BeoTech section would be nice.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Cut your overhead costs. Over the next two/three years opportunities for income will probably be static at best, so hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Ensure that your service providers are doing the same, and if they aren't then be positioned to switch.

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
When I was 17-18 I was working for one of UK's biggest HiFi retailers. We never stocked B&O (another shop in our parent chain did), although we could order it. I remember once we got in a some B&O for a customer, and I was spellbound by it. Sure we had better sounding stuff for less money, and I was criticised for liking this "primitive Philips in a party frock", but there was something that it had that none of the other stuff did.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
Beocentre 9500, in 2007.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
Something to do with computers, music and technology, not really sure what. Haven't worked for a while now for health reasons.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
A small-ish village close to the sea. Lived in Moscow for a while, will be moving somewhere else in UK soonish.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
A Google search for info on the 9500.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
Loved it, became addicted.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
See above :)
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
More pictures of other people's collections/setups. Some "How To's" would be very good. There's lots of this information about, but not much on Beoworld. What there is tends to be in the forum, and takes some digging for. Examples I'm thinking ofHow to....
Connect a Beogram to a non-phono equipped system
Connect to non-B&O amps/subs/processors
Connect non B&O to Beolabs
etc. Also a "Buyer's Guide" would be welcome, as would easier access to the manuals for Silver/Gold members with a terrible memory like me!
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Keep doing what you're doing. A quality site for a quality product will attract quality membership.

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
First saw the Beogram 4000 in the Sunday Papers when I was just a boy, it was about the only thing that I was interested in, politics, economics and war were way over my head back then, so I just looked at the pictures, adverts and a few of the shorter stories, this must have been around 1973 and this turntable was totally differant to anything I had ever seen, but I had no idea what the Bang meant (and why were you supposed to bang olufsen anyway?).
I had no idea back then it was the name of the manufacturer, I thought it was some sort of advertising keyword logo like "They're greeeeaaat!" I spent too much time wondering what 'Bang' was supposed to mean (the smooth photography had me thinking it was something to do with cigarette advertising)I eventually worked it out, and used to spend my later schoolboy years going to the local B&O shop to admire all the stuff, especially the Beomaster 2200 and the Beomaster 1900.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
Around 1980 or so, I was walking past an obscure little shop in Portsmouth - Copnor Road just next to the railway bridge and it had a discount sale on so I bought my first item, Beogram 2400, this was so much more futuristic than Beogram 3000 and the other very flat rectangular box shaped turntables that were in stock. Unfortunately I could not afford an amplifier or anything else! Took me another year before I had anything I could connect it to.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
My first real job was in the Royal Navy, that's why I was in Portsmouth. My first amplifier was something I bought in Singapore, it was made by Sharp - everyone else was buying ghetto blasters and Sony Walkmans.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
Where I live is pretty urban, Leeds has had B&O dealers for many years, in various locations, I bought my first B&O speakers at De Cobains in the newly built St Johns centre - that shop is there no longer.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
First came across Beoworld maybe 4 years ago, the old site, might be a little longer, time passes faster and faster as the years go by.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
I'd just ventured out into EBAY territory and saw B&O stuff for sale, lots of items I knew nothing about so I started searching for information, that's how I came across Beoworld - absolutely invaluable
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
Decided I wanted a hobby, so I started buying and repairing old hifis but it was Beoworld that gave me the wider view of the B&O product line, so I began to use it as a referance, back then there was no service data available so half the battle was to find sources of service manuals.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
It would be nice to see more service information, manuals are fine but practical stuff such as settings for voltages, adverts for component suppliers, speaker rebuilds, sources of other items such as veneers, lamps, all the stuff needed to bring older B&O back to life.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
To be honest, most of the more recent B&O output is so expensive it is way out of my range and has little interest for me, I also find it lacks charisma. I would like to see some user freindly guides to setting up the link systems, perhaps even some sort of algorithms to make it easier.

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
Absolutely, I was probably around 15, the parents of my best school friend were quite welthy and had one of the biggest house in the village. One day when I visited her and they had just installed a Beosystem 7000 and a LX TV, a MCP, and several link room.
I remember asking permission to "play"with it for a whole afternoon. That was it. Hooked. Was facinated by the design, and the 2 way remote.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
Years later, I ended up buying a the Beosystem 2500 of my dream, with my first salary. All of my first salary actually. 1993.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
IT Consultant, IT Consultant.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
Very Urban, oh so Trendy Shoreditch.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
Very long time ago, but only registered as a user later when I needed answers, as I was starting to buy more second hand and new B&O.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
Can't remember!
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
I think I discovered Beoworld at its very beginning, but didn't need it until later.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
The forum is fine as it is. The static part REALLY needs to be improved. It has not evolved for long. - If you need info about let's say a BV7, you need to search once to get its specs, another search to get its price, another search to get the manuals, another search to find the catalog in which it it is featured, and browse everywhere to get tech info related to it.
- Beotech is great but not accessible.
- Newly added info (Beo5, BM5/BS5) had to be added on a separate web site.
Thousands of technical questions are answered in the forum, but once the have been buried to the Nth page, this information is almost lost.
I'd be happy to help and propose to you a new structure/organisation for that the static part of the web site!
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
If you had asked me before, it would have been to send a questionaire like this!

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
When I bought my trusty Beomaster 900 plus Beovox 1000s from eBay. I was browsing the collectable section looking for 1960s telephones when I saw an auction about to end. I had no idea what I was buying, or how it would change my life and open up a new hobby that I now care so much about, but the 900 was the first of many successful eBay purchases to enter my collection.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
See above - 2003.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
I worked as a Project Manager at the University of Sheffield Medical School. Now I'm a medical student......at The University of Sheffield Medical School!
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
I live in Ranmoor, in South West Sheffield. It's a very monied area, and very leafy, yet only 25 mins walk from the city centre. It's really very nice. One of our neighbours in our building has an Audi R8, and another a Ferrari 355. I have a rusty 1996 VW Polo!
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
When I was contemplating buying my first 'modern' piece of B&O back in 2005. I think I posted asking what speakers would work well with Beosystem 5000. Typically, Peter was first to respond!
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
Good - Peter's post included the offer of some free S80s I think.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
Never been away since.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
As a non-paying member, it's not my call.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Not really. It's a different kettle of fish when a site becomes a business, and there's no getting away from that. I'm sure many of us remember the endless hanging of the old site, and are very grateful to Lee for the thoroughly professional appearance and performance of the new site.

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
I read an article about a Beogram 3000 (type 59xx) when it was launched in a magazine about interior design. It must have been in 1985, when I was 11 years old.
2) What was your own first piece of Bang & Olufsen, and what year did you buy it?
It was a Beocenter 9300 I bought in 1997, a few months after my 23rd birthday.
3) What job did you do then – and what do you do now?
I was a student of business economics at the time. At the moment I'm a financial manager.
4) Where do you live, and what’s it like – rural, urban, trendy, classical?
I live in a medieval city center.
5) How and when did you first stumble across BeoWorld?
it must have been september or october 2007.
6) What were your first impressions of the site – good, bad or indifferent?
Very good. I was impressed with the huge amount of information.
7) Did BeoWorld ‘do what you needed it to do’, and was it long before you came back?!
It sure did. I joined the site as a bronze member on october 17th 2007 and started posting. I really started to enjoy the forum and wanted to support the site, so I became a gold member in february 2008.
8) How would you like to see BeoWorld improve?
I can't think of any improvement for the site right now. It would be nice if Beoworld could arrange a factory tour in Struer again, though.
9) Do you have any advice for the people that run BeoWorld?
Keep up the good work, I can only speak for myself, but I know it's greatly appreciated by all Beoworlders.

1) What was your first experience of, or contact with B&O products – is there a moment or time in your life you can remember?
In 1990, I was exiting an electronics store in Chicago and passed the BeoSound 4000. The glass doors moved aside and I thought I broke something. I was very curious about this product.

1998, BeoSound 4000 with the matching cobalt blue BeoLab 2500 speakers.
