    Beo4 trade in

I recently got an email from my dealer saying that i could trade in my beo4 for a beo5, with the beo4 at full value $195. My questions are:

Will the boe5 work with a BS4500 with 1.6 s/w (one way com)?

    What is the cost difference?

    Thanks all.

    Evan

    Re: Beo4 trade in

I got a flyer through the door today (UK) offering part ex. on your Beo4 toward a Beo5 (no mention of part ex. value),  free replacement hanset cover for your Beocom 6000 or free repalcement keypad for Beo4 owners.

Also free Beo5 if you but a BV8-40.

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

    Hmm, that;s really interesting.....

I wonder what the Beo 5 would be with part exchange, especially now that my dealer no longer exists,  I wonder if a new dealer wants my business going forward Big Smile

Sorry to hear of your loss.

So does anybody know what the Beo5 goes for regularly (without exchange) in USD?

These are fairly cheap off ebay or ask your dealer if they have any second hand units

    Cheers Nick

Also free Beo5 if you but a BV8-40.

I like the sound of that offer, any mention of the price in UK of the BV8-40 Puncher, or are we still throwing around the 4 grand mark?

    Rob.

No mention of prices in the flyer, it was pretty much a "come into my parlour said the spider to the fly" type glossy leaflet.

There are prices flying around this forum, I suspect you know as much as I.

I would aim a little lower than that but you're not far off the mark.

The idea with the Beo 5 is that after a rocky start it is becoming one of the driving forces of our custom business. If someone had a Beo 5 on the coffee table, they might be a little more curious about expansion opportunities than someone with an old Beo 4 lying around! It also requires the dealer to make alterations and every bit of face time is seen (rightfully I suppose as we're not a charity) as an opportunity to discuss new products and potential upgrades.

that is the only reason why i don't own one... and, i would love to have one...

195 usd off (i have a beo4 i can donate) ...i would do it! - so long as the config sw came with it! otherwise, my logitechs fill the bill.

I've been given a price of £3,565 including Beo4 but excluding ML.  As already mentioned, initially this will include Beo5 which is normally £500.

I was quoted same but does that include Freeview tuner or should we expect that by now all prices for Beovisions have Freeview as standard, pending digital switch-over of course?

I know you're not exactly saying this Trip but it's almost the same as a car dealer selling fault-liable models benefiting from repeated visits by customers whose purchases require repairs as they have to walk through the showroom to see the mechanic!

Do U know if some EU dealers are trading in old Beo4 for new Beo5 and what is the price reduction then for Beo5?

DVB-HD is a standard feature, although HD terrestrial bradcasts are not aavailable in the UK yet this is planned for the future so for once B&O are ahead of the game.  The only additional option is the system module which will give you masterlink.

    Re: Beo4 trade in

Okay everyone I called my dealer (Columbus), and they said that after the $195 credit it brings the beo5 down to $360 without programming (the gentleman said programming would run another couple hundred bucks!). Is there any way to get it programmed/configured for a reasonable price?

And I have another question; is the charger/base included?

    Re: Beo4 trade in

I think someone posted a link to the proprietary Beo5 configuration software on BeoWorld. Reportedly it works fine on both PC and MAC. Can someone confirm? If I bought the Beo5 as is (without dealer programming) and installed this software on my PC, would I be able to configure it easily (I'm not a software engineer)?

The base is included with the Beo5 in this offer.  The configuration software is for a Windows PC not a Mac.

    Re: Beo4 trade in

    That's good news linder.

Can anyone expand on self programming of the beo5? Does this aformentioned software allow you to insert IR codes for non B&O products?

I *hate* my Beo 5 because my dealer WILL NOT aloow me access to the configurator program.  I'm so jealous of all here who have access to it, and can tool aorund and customize their Beo 5 for themselves.

This is a major PR blunder, IMHO, for BeoCare US

Why don't you install and try it for yourself? If you have a PC, that is. A quick search on BeoWorld will turn up the download link.

I'm thinking of trading in my Beo4 but not until I'm convinced that I can program the thing in the comfort of my own home. Not just in order to save money, but the fact that I live over 2 hours away from the dealer also has something to do with it...
