joeyboygolf:
I agree with you regarding the fact that the 9000 is a superb product but I fail to hear the marked and significant sonic upgrade over a Beosound 3000.
I think you are hearing with your eyes!
To my ears, the B&O CD players from the 9500 onwards are all much of a muchness and sonic improvements are due to the attached speakers!
joeyboy - That would have been my thought, before actually changing. The point about Beolabs is correct - and what I spent 15 years telling people in-store. However, I was lucky enough to be presented with a white 9000 by B&O last year, and so the change at home was an unexpected surprise....but a side effect is that there is a marked improvement.
The room and speakers didn't change (even the same ML cable) and using CD's I have known for many years, there is an obvious improvement - more definition, seperation and tonally everything just sounds better - rather like a cartridge upgrade on a turntable. Even the two older kids ( 15 and 17) and Mrs DJ have noticed an improvement.
The 3000 is now at my parents, and still works 100% - I just wonder if it was getting a bit "weary", being about 10 years old.
