Sounds a bit soppy - but it's the truth. B&O has that effect...

Not soppy at all Lee. You have bought a beautiful product that REALLY is AL'W'IGHT!

BS9000 is really a iconic product that is why I decided to purchase the limited edition upon hearing the 'rumour', even though I don't have the space for it in my house yet.

I was initially going to hold the purchase until I moved into my new place early next year.

Lee - your right - with the possible exception of the Avant no product in recent times sums up B&O better than a BeoSound 9000.

I have a white 9000 that replaced a Bsnd3000 - and quite apart from always wanting one, it was a marked and significant sonic upgrade as well. A superb product.

Back on topic - Denmark have just released preview images of some new shop display graphics - one of which features the BeoSound 9000.  Seeing this suggested to me that the 9000 will be around for a good while yet - and I have asked the question directly of B&O yesterday  for this very reason.   In harder trading times, it would not be good form to sell dealers a graphic that shows a soon-to-be-gone product.

As for updates like dab, mp3, wireless, etc my gut feeling is probably not :-( ... but fingers crossed.....

I agree with you regarding the fact that the 9000 is a superb product  but I fail to hear the marked and significant sonic upgrade over a Beosound 3000.

I think you are hearing with your eyes!

To my ears, the B&O CD players from the 9500 onwards are all much of a muchness and sonic improvements are due to the attached speakers!

joeyboy - That would have been my thought, before actually changing.  The point about Beolabs is correct - and what I spent 15 years telling people in-store.  However, I was lucky enough to be presented with a white 9000 by B&O last year, and so the change at home was an unexpected surprise....but a side effect is that there is a marked improvement.

The room and speakers didn't change (even the same ML cable) and using CD's I have known for many years, there is an obvious improvement - more definition, seperation and tonally everything just sounds better - rather like a cartridge upgrade on a turntable.  Even the two older kids ( 15 and 17) and Mrs DJ have noticed an improvement.

The 3000 is now at my parents, and still works 100% - I just wonder if it was getting a bit "weary",  being about 10 years old.

I used to have a 9000 and I miss it so much.  I can hardly sleep at night.  Cracking product, but DAB and a Scrolling Display aking to BS4 would keep it on for another 5-10 years in my view.  Seems a little dated now but still want one.

I think it would be a massive mistake to remove the 9000 from the product range, its a constant seller and one of the great B&O products.  Why remove when people are still walking in and buying it? same goes for the lab 8000s.. all of which are bread and butter for B&O.

If B&O drop BS9000 what are they going to sell then BS4/BS3200? BS5 is not selling well!

For anyone who wants one and does not want to rely on Craig's luck, there is one up as a prize in a draw at present - and it is a white one!
