    Beocenter 7002

    Ciao a tutti from sunny Puglia (Italia)

    Just joined this forum and I am a complete newbie to the world of B & 0 and I am not technical at all, so be gentle!

    Have just restored an ancient stone house in southern Italy and rather than instal modern I decided a vintage hi fi was the best way to go, so aquired a Beocenter 7002.

    Now my vinyl collection is good but I also want to be able to plug in my ipod.  I have searched the forum and come up with some technical answers but I just need to know, is there a Din lead that I can buy that will do the job i.e will a 5 pin Din work?  My hubby is in the UK at the moment, so I searched Maplins as there is a store near him, but I am not sure what to tell him to get.  Can anyone help?

    Ciao, ciao

    Re: Beocenter 7002

    Liz there are several variations on the 5 pin din lead, usually they will have a male 5 pin din plug on one end which plugs into the AUX input on the front of the unit (next to the mic input).

    On the other end will either be 2 or 4 RCA sockets OR a headphone socket if you buy a specialty lead.

    The DIN connection on your 7002 can take sound both in and out of your 7002 ie for listening to your ipod, or for recording from the tape or record deck in your 7002 to a unit outside like a second tape deck.

    in your case with your ipod you want to take sound from the ipod and into your 7002.

    You have 2 solutions;

    Lead 1. a single 5 pin male DIN to male 3.5mm headphone socket lead

    Lead 2. (actually 2 leads) a 5 pin male DIN to 2or 4 RCA's and then a female RCA to 3.5mm headphone socket lead which needs to be joined to the male RCA's on the first lead. If you partner gets you a lead with 4 rca sockets, 2 of them will carry sound IN to your 7002 and 2 will carry sound OUT of your 7002 (usually they are red white yellow and black in colour), you will just need to use trial and error to figure out which is which. If you cant get a female RCA to headphone lead, you can get a Male RCA to headphone lead and then put some joiners in the middle which are female to female which both leads will plug into.

    In both cases the headphone socket plugs into the top of your ipod and off you go. In situation 2 if you cant get

    Thank you so much Andrew.  Option 1 sounds good and Hubby is getting local guy to make the lead - (support the small businesses rather than the large!)

    Make sure you connect the correct pins! There are wiring diagrams for the DIN plugs at www.Beotech.co.uk which is part of this site.
