    BeoCentre 2300 Remote Control Options

Can anyone please tell me if it should be possible for me to use the Beolink 1000 Remote Control with my BeoCentre 2300 if I have NOT got active speakers connected to it? I purchased my BeoCentre 2300 second hand a few years ago and am using a fairly decent wireless connection to some quite large speakers which works very well, yet none of the functions given from the Beolink 1000 Remote Control will work on my BeoCentre 2300. Both of the B&O Centres I took my Beolink 1000 Remote Control to for testing were able to activate all of their equipment from it, but neither had a BeoCentre 2300 to test it upon, and could not say for certain (without charging me to bring in my BeoCentre 2300), as to whether the remote control should work without the active speakers in place. I would have thought that the Beolink 1000 remote control should work with the BeoCentre 2300 if it is simply only connected to earphones, as I presume may well be the case of many who perhaps may simply be using the stand alone unit on a bedside cabinet, but I can't be certain of this. Can anyone advise please?

It should work! I've checked the manual and can not find the instruction on how to check the option setting of the system via a BL1000... You don't a have a beo4 do you.

Re: BeoCentre 2300 Remote Control Options

Hi Shellac and welcome to the forum!

Normally the Beolink1000 should work with the BC2300 no matter if speakers are connected or not. As you said you bought the BC2300 second hand it might be that the unit was part of a link-system and the option setting hasn't been reset. Maybe the BC2300 is in "option0", in this setting the IR-reciever is deactivated. For stand alone use it should be set to "option 1"

Here is how to set it in option1: When the BC2300 is in stand-by take the BL1000 and press "SOUND" followed by "1" and "STORE". The red Led on the BC2300 should blink once. Now you should be able to control the BC2300 via the Beolink1000.
Another thought: Do you have by any chance a plasma screen in the same room? Plasma screen do emit a "IR-noise" that can cause problems with IR-control.

    Keep us informed!

    Cheers!

You need to set the 2300 to option 1

On your beolink 1000 press STDBY, SOUND, 1, STORE

The red standby light should flicker indicating acceptance by the Beocenter 2300.

    Your remote should now work.

Hi Foxtrot, Many thanks for sharing that information with me. The machine is doing the business now... It didn't work first time, but I tried it again with a bit more pressure on the remote control buttons and the LED flashed once. I certainly know all about "IR-noise", as I'd set up a nice shelf complete with 3 nice coloured globe and plasma plate style displays - you've guessed it... the glass doors wouldn't close when those devices were switched on, which was a bit of a waste of my creative time!

    Hi!

Nice to hear that is was only an option issue and not a more complicated technical issue.

    Greetings!

Re: BeoCentre 2300 Remote Control Options

    Hi again Foxtrott,

Your kind advice probably saved me fair old whack by NOT having to take the unit in and possibly being miss-sold another R/C. I've done away with my Plasma lamps and complemented the unit by using a couple of brightly coloured and set in aluminium lava lamps - looks very cool! All I need to get to grips with now is how on earth one stores up to 100CD's without the tracks that one doesn't want. Hmmm! But I'll read through the manual and get there somehow...

     Kindest regards again.

    Shellack.
