Well after derliberating about which TV to buy for our second lounge I have decided on a BV7 with a 7.1 speaker.I have read some threads about the film mode being useless and that it should be switched off, but is this the only bad point about the TV? What do our fellow members who own a BV7 realy think about it? Is it a good TV and is it worth the money?

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
i've seen one in the flesh and it's a stunner
amazing picture and beautifully made
personally , i'd leave the speaker off as it's the only thing that upsets the design and use some beolab 6ks etc as left and right audio
does the new one have hdmi yet ? and freeview
once they're standard it will probably be the best tv in the world

Yes I think you are right. The 7.1 underneath is not great looking. If I did use Beolab 6's as left and right speakers would it sound ok when I watch documentries or programmes with alot of talking?

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
i don't see why not , i have a pair of beloab 6ks connected to my avant32 dvd and you can simply select speaker 1 , speaker 2 or speaker 3 for different sound modes
speaker 1 gives tv only
speaker 2 is 6k's only
speaker 3 is a combo of both
the 6k's are surprisingly good speakers imo as long as you don't expect earth shattering bass , plus they look much nicer than some of the weird stuff bno are coming out with recently

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
I have, for a year now, a BV7 and I am very satisfied with it. Just get it, you won't be disappointed. The only thing I strongly recommand you is not to buy it right now, but to wait for some months, because there has been talk about an upgrade for some time, and it would be a pitty to miss that one. About the speakers, I have to say the following: the BL7.1 is a superb speaker, with crystal-clear sound, very deep and powerfull bass and more power then you'll need. It's stereo image is good, but due to the size of the speaker, it is somehow reduced. For a second lounge, the speaker is more than enough, even if you want to use it for music-listening. IMO, the worst thing you can do is leave the 7.1, as a TV without center speaker looks and sounds like crap and above all because the BL7.1 is the best stereo-center speaker you can get. You can connect center, front, rear speakers and a subwoofer to the BV7. The speaker modes are the following (if you have more than a center speaker): - speaker1: only center speaker
- speaker2: only front speakers
- speaker3: center and front
- speaker4: front and rear (double stereo/ enhanced stero)
- speaker5: center, front and rear (DTS or Dolby Digital)
Hope this helps. You can PM me if you have other questions.

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
Thanks Tom, I visited my B&O dealer this morning to take a look at the BV7. I like the look of it and your right the 7.1 did sound very deep and purposefull. They put Pirates Of The Caribbean on and it sounded great for one speaker. I have no TV in the room at the moment so its hard to wait for the upgraded version to arrive. We shall see.....

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
I have owned a BV7-40 (with BL 7.4) since about a year now and am very much satisfied with it. I think the price-performance ratio of BV7 is very good. I have a red-colour version, which matches the furniture in the room, and it always causes a "wow" effect when my guests see it.

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
I have a black BV-7 32 and it looks wonderful. A friend of mine has a silver one and he always says that mine looks much better...but then his was a free insurance replacement after an electrical storm and replaced his old BV-3 and so he is not therefore complaining! The Beolab 7.1 is a great stereo speaker...even though we have a 5.1 surround system we use it on its' own a lot for programs like the news and documentaries...and of course all the kids tv too. We find that some programs just don't sound right in Speaker 3...especially repeats of old programs. If the new BV-7 is due out sometime soon i would wait for it...or buy a nice second hand one which came out last year with the HD module...mine was bought at the end of March 2006 when it was released. You may get a very good deal from a B & O store on an ex-demo...just make sure that it hasn't been a demo for a long time? I spoke to a manager of a store last year and their demos were left turned on 24 hours a day!!!

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
Glad to hear you have decided on a BeoVision 7. This truly is an outstanding television. I have one in my lounge with BeoMedia and Sky + which is absolutly awsome, and watching movies is out of this world!! David - I would suggest taking your own DVD into your B+O dealer and having a go on the BeoVision 7 yourself. Or even take a CD to play on it to. Just to add. I dont think it would be worth waiting for the BeoSystem 3 version of the BeoVision 7 to arrive as it will only benefit you if you are looking for a full home cinema or if you want more than 5.1 surround sound. Cheers,

Tayne, Don't you forget the full HD panel of the upgraded BV7? Maybe worth the wait? Marcel

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
I think many people are still confused when it comes to hi definition television. The first thing to take into consideration it the veiwing distance of the television? I am presuming he would be sitting a fair distance from the television? In fact scientificly speaking, you have to be closer than 1.9 meters with a 32" television before the human eye can tell the differance between 720 lines and 1080 lines. That supposing you have some 1080 material in the first place!!! so holding out for the new BV7 woulod be pointless. Tayne

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
The new BV7 will have the Beosystem 3 master unit so it will have better connectivity. I know the Tv is only going in my second room but if I wait for the new model I can then have more choices when deciding where to place it when I move.

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
I think you will be well advised to wait for the new chassis, if this includes the BS3 built in, then you will benefit not just in picture quality but far better sound processing and if the same level of connections is presented as in the stand alone BS3 the 4 HDMI sockets are well worth having. Cheers Peter

In what way will there be better picture and sound via the BS3? (In other words: how does the BS3 work?) Marcel

IMO, the main argument for waiting for the new BV7 is not the new pannel, but the enhanced chassis, which will allow much better connectivity!

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
Beomedia? It's like buying a new car realy. You wouldn't buy an end of the line BMW if you knew that in three months a newer model was coming out. I know that I don't want to connect a projector now but when / if I move house I will then have a choice of more options. It's a £6k TV I have to think ahead with such a large purchase.

Re: Possible BV7 purchase.
Actually my local dealer has BeoMedia on his BV7 as i do and it works extrmely happily!! Also you are putting your BV7 in a slave mode which means you won't need the connectivity anyway as all the sources will be coming from the Avant master set. Its your choice but i dont want to see anyone pay upwards of 8 grand for somthing that could of done the same job for 6.

good point. I got my MK II BV7 one month before the MK III came out. At that time I did not know anything about beoworld and the dealer I bought it at did not tell me anything about the MK III (which did not make me happy, I've bought my stuff from another dealer since). I think the difference between MK III and MK IV will be even bigger, so I can only recommand once again to wait for MK IV
