    BeoPort Questions

Just a few questions about BeoPort in my search for quality mp3 playback.

    Does beoport work with PC/windows?

    Does it work with iTunes?

What kind of cable hook up is best between a computer and BeoMaster 4500?

Can a Beo4 control BeoPort with a PC?

How does the internet radio function?

    And any other comments please.

    Thanks -Ev

    Evan

    Re: BeoPort Questions

    Hi there.

Beoport works with PC and Mac as well.

It does work with iTunes as well but if I'm not mistaken only in Mac version

Since BM4500 does not have a Masterlink connection obviously should be connected in AUX.

Beo4 controls Beoport provided you have on Beoport the ir eye as well.

You have the N.Radio function from the Beoport software of Beo4 with 3.500 approximatelly net radio stations.

I use it on my link for quite a few years and I'm very happy with it.

    Best regards

    Re: BeoPort Questions

    Easy trigger!

While this forum is full of knowledgeable people (glances in mirror), we need to be a little careful about doling out advice if we're not certain that we're correct. I know that many people come here to get good honest advice to make buying decisions and there's enough bad information being given out in shops already!

BeoPort will only work to compliment a modern BeoSound audio system with support for N.MUSIC & N.RADIO. The BeoPort itself is not an audio master and will not drive a link network. If a BeoSound 3000(new), 3200, 9000(new), or 4, or a BeoCenter 2 is not present as an audio master, the N.MUSIC & N.RADIO will not be brought onto the network. BeoPort will not work. I fear this was never made clear enough to dealers as I myself and many of my colleagues have found out "the hard way" that BeoPort needs an audio master.

If you have a BeoMaster 4500, your only option to bring music from your computer is as a simple AUX input with no control, just as you would an iPod (also an option, of course).

Otherwise the above information as to the compatibility with computer platforms in correct.

    Re: BeoPort Questions

    Hello TripEnglish.

While you got a point on the Audio Master this does not mean that Beoport cannot work as a stand alone product with a pair of Beolabs.  Moreover, in a connection that the aux cable will go from the PC to the BM4500 (or in -> Atape2) in parallel the Beo4 can contol the Beoport and have some short of control over the music (n.music since N.Radio will switch to Phono).

Of course it will not be a perfect solution but .......

    Best regards

    Re: BeoPort Questions

So are the benifits of beoport for connectivity purely? Or are there sound processing improvements as well?

    What about BeoPlayer?

    Re: BeoPort Questions

What i've done, is connect the AUX straight to the computer via 3.5mm jack.

Beoport does not have sound processing does it? As far as i know, it doesn't. It functions to allow remote control via Beo4 of computer music, and access to internet radio...

There is an alternative for older systems - Beo-PC

This a product made by one of our members - Ridax. Well worth a look.

    Re: BeoPort Questions

Well dave that is sort of what I already have in place, but now that I know that beoport isnt just software I am more interested in controlling my mp3s with the Beo4. I originally thought that beo port was some sort of B&O alternative to itunes.

What I ultimately want to accomplish is control my itunes playlists and songs with the beo4.
