Party!!! [<:o)] Prize Quiz - The Winner!

We had six correct answers to the Prize Quiz and well done to all of you who had a go.

    The questions and answers:

Q.1  Sometimes a car, sometimes not, but either way available with the sound you love

    A8 Earphones - Audi A8 and earphones.

Q.2 Jensen's first task, as written here, in black and white.

    BeoMaster 1000 Tuner/Amplifier - Jensen's first project for B&O was to redesign the BM1000

Q.3 One can strain the sound from the comfort of one's own chair.

Beolab Terminal Remote Controller - it has a button on it labelled FILTERS - to filter is to strain

Q.4 It would seem to offer open sound, but this one will just weigh you down

Bang & Olufsen Paperweight 'MMC Series' - the paperweight shows a disassembled MMC cartridge - hence open - and is a paperweight - therefore heavy

Q.5 A young mobile yet visual Lewis.

BeoVision 600 - one of David Lewis' first designs and the first portable B&O TV

Q.6 Never heavy, especially clad in disorganised Roman attire!

Beolit 1000 Portable Radio - anagram (disorganised is crossword convention for anagram) Roman attire = toga. Anagram of toga is goat - the Beolit 1000 could be specified with Moroccan goat skin

    Q.7 The last millennium - captured to a T.

BeoCord 2000 Deluxe T Reel to Reel Tape Deck - captured - or recorded, the year - 2000 and a T

Q.8 The doors open for ten times Leonidas' number

    BeoSound 3000 CD/Tuner - 300 Spartans!

    Q.9 A good British man - but still B&O

BeoVox 3800 Passive Loudspeakers - UK market speaker with British Goodmans woofer

Q.10 A visual treat - and B&O now show all of Pot Black (Snooker programme!)

BeoVision 3000SJ/3000KJ - B&O's first colour TV - snooker was unwatchable on a black and white set - pretty unwatchable on colour IMHO!

Q.11 Beryllium - but effectively the least.

MMC6000 - Beryllium cantilever and has the lowest Effective Tip Mass on any B&O cartridge

Q.12 Black plastic blank, but a change to red illuminations signifies presence of optional quartet.

Beogram 3400 - If fitted with the quadraphonic decoder, the black button on the top plate was replaced with a red LED

Q.13 Styled before its time and only one Norwegian captive known. And one more in Struer?

Hyberbo 5 RG Steel - probably only five made and the only one known is in a Norwegian museum - the one at Struer is a replica and the sound from it comes from a Walkman in the bottom draw!!

Q.14 Henrik bought it to the fore, and there was much talk

    BeoCom 4 Cordless DECT Telephone - Lee's question - far too nice!!Laughing

Q.15 Your closest estimate to the number of hits the reference site receives in the week of the prize draw.

    Closest guess wins!

The number of hits in the last full week was......

    1,595,645

Which makes Sveifors  the winner with an estimate of 1,678,000 beating the sole English entrant by about 10,000! Very close! Sveifors will be receiving a copy of Spark to Icon  and my congratulations!

It was, of course, completely impossible! However dogged determination clearly won the day so congratulations to anyone who had a go. It was partly to raise some interest in the Products pages and also just a bit of fun. Do we want more like this? - I will make them either easier or harder depending on what you think!

Dont make them any harder Peter. I managed to get about half of them. Most by luck. It was good fun though.

Well clearly with such encyclopaedic knowledge, we will be expecting you to answer lots of queries!! Laughing

Seriously, very well done - it must have taken a lot of time to work it out and trawl the site. I'll look forward to getting your address and will post the book to you.

That's ONLY on the main website, and not the forum remember!  The Forum gets on average 1.5 times that many clicks, so all added together makes a pretty impressive figure - and it's going up every week!

I do take on board comments made about clicks meaning little, but that aside we are all very pleased and it's surely an indication that the site is doing fairly well! Big Smile

The Beovox 3800 is mentioned quite a lot as it is relatively rare and a UK only model. Bet quite a few thought that was an easy one!! Laughing The Beolab terminal was a nasty one I agree! DevilLaughing
