    "HElp" B&O 8002 Vs. 8000

    Hi new friends---

I own a 8002 Table, does the 8000 use the same platter as a 8002?  Just wondering if I should replace mine, it turns at proper speeds and sounds great, never noticed until today,  when rotating---A very slight bump/ rise in the platter as it rotates----Has anybody seen this before on your unit??

If I should replace, Ebay I saw a 8000 platter, but again, I dont know if it is same as 8002?

    Thanks for your help!!!!!!!

    Bob

No, it is different. The 8000 platter is more like the 4000 type with raised ribs. The vertical tracking angle will be wrong. You need an 8002 or 6002 platter.

Hi again, Thanks Peter for some feedback!

How does the 8002 platter come off deck, lift off or another way??

    Thanks again,

    Bob

Hi Bob, and welcome to Beoworld !   Yes - thumbs up

The platter lifts straight off. The black subplatter likewise but note the three
prongs that fits into similar cutouts in the hub to get it back correctly.

The center pin is attached to the hub and does not come off with the platter.

If you have a humming sound for each platter revolution (or the speed display
is not steady but jitters in light intensity, the tachodisc is bad.
You can see the tachodisc, a circular sheet with a pattern, apprx 10cm diameter,
sitting around the hub under the subplatter.
If yours is of the photographic type it will be falling apart and should be replaced. If it's of the metal type, it will last forever.
New stainless steel tachodiscs are available.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks form the excellent detailed instructions----You rock!   Mine does not make any noises and all is steady with the digital readout!  I think I just have a very slight upward bump/movement on one of these platters, It is so slight I probably am worring about nothing.  I will take them off anyway to make certain they are both flat!
