Can vintage Beogram 1500 work with new speaker?

Hi all, i just bought beogram 1500 (silver top) because of i really like the look of it without any knowledge.. i have no idea at all how to connect it with audio system, what do i need to make it work?, can it work with standard speaker (3.5mm audio socket) with some extra cable?. can i use any amplifier with it or only B&O's? my idea is to spend as less as possible because i am in london for studying for a couple of year. then, i can take only my lovely beogram back to my country, leave the rest in london.  can anyone please advise me?  thanks in advance.

Which 1500? There are two - one has a built in amplifier and a row of knobs down one side - that will just connect to some speakers - about 8W a channel. The later 70s/80s model needs an amplifier - non B&O are fine but make sure they have a dedicated record player input.

    Hi Peter,

I'm listening to my beogram 1500 with new speakers and it sounds gorgeous.

I wish mine still worked ! Mine is the '70s variant with a built-in amp but I still have it :-)

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
