    Beomaster 2400 driving M100s

    Hi guys,

I read on beocentral today that tweeters can be damaged if they are driven by an underpowered amp. Since my father picked up a pair of M100s several weeks ago, they've been driven through my Beomaster 2400. In order to get decent volume from them, the beomaster needs to be turned up to about 3/4 volume. Am I potentially damaging a pair of M100s by playing them through the 2400?

I know that B&O tended to conservatively rate the power output of it's amps, but with only 30 watts/channel could the BM 2400 be labeled as underpowered to the point of damage to these speakers?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

The 2400 will be fine but do not be tempted to play it at full volume for any length of time. The 2400 does actually seem rather good at powering difficult loads and has a peak output of up to 75W. Remember that most music you listen to will be at about 2W anyway!

    Alex,

You might try checking ebay. At least here in the U.S., the "Beomaster Control Module" for the 2400 appears fairly regularly on ebay.

    Regards,

    Aaron
