    beosound 9000

    Hi,  I'm new here.

I have a couple of questions,

    1. How do you turn the clamper 90 degrees so that the Bang and Olufsen name is in the horizontal position. ( in the manual it says just turn it, but it's difficult to get hold of and it appears quite stiff to move) any info' would be appreciated.

    2. How do you tell the difference between a mark2 and mark3?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

    1. You just turn it with your fingers. It is stiff, but will get looser after you turned it a couple of times.

    2. Physical difference is that the MK3 don't have the red power button. Software wise it has net music and net radio. I believe it's possible to upgrade the software.

I have the MK3, but there's little or no updates that makes any difference between mk1, mk2 and mk3. Of course if you use netradio and netmusic, but I don't I just play CD's and listen to "normal" radio.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I'm still concerned about damaging the clamper though. When I try to turn it, it pushes in towards the CD and it seems quite delicate.

Do turn it by putting your fingers on the face or on the edge of the clamper?

    Cheers,

    Hi,

I turn it by holding the small edges of the metallic disc with the name Bang&Olufsen printed on it. You need to push down on the clamp a bit, if you feel it's delicate, then support the clamp with your fingers holding the plexi-glass part of the clamper. (So that you counter the force of pushing down.)

Try using your 4 fingers flat on the disc with the logo, it is better if your fingers are a bit damp, so try breathing in them first, i wen't through the same as you, and found that if you use 4 fingers, then you have a larger surface of resistance, and you don't need to push as hard, but still, try to support the plexiglass with your other hand from behind so you pull the damper a bit out as you push/turn with your 4 fingers.

I couldn't move my clamper. Maybe I was too scared to break it so I let my dealer do it.

I have an idea.....  how about putting on some latex gloves for better grip  (like the surgical kind ) ?  (while holding the plexi with the other hand)
