Again.. it's me again asking about Beolab 1, sorry, and i am still looking for a pair here, but no luck as yet. :(
I'd like to know how much it costs and if it's even possible; to re-case them if i come across a reasonable example in an undesirable colour.
Any tips would be great. When i buy a pair i'll hate to be told by B&O that it's no longer possible to order the aluminium parts... or, "it will cost a thousand pounds". :(
Even better if someone could come forward and sell me a pair of BL1! I love the silver, dark grey, sky blue & dark green colours

I do like the colour, i saw the green on 4000's and in person it really strikes me! Will N E V E R find a green pair BL1 here though. Australians seem to be more conservative.

Yes that's me, Forgot the maroon colour, i'd take that one too! My house is very very bland and modern - a splash of colour and interesting shapes will do the place wonders! I don't understand why people like the black colour it looks terrible to me and is detracts from the look and quality of the aluminium. I suspect those who are like me and buy the wild colours, generally don't want to sell them. I won't be selling! *touches wood*
So is there anyone who can advise on the casing of Beolab 1 or has a pair to sell? I'll give my dealer a buzz tommorrow anyhow and post for reference to anyone else out there in my rare predicament...

JD, thanks, i got them, a couple of days ago. I haven't been keeping check of that wanted ad... that pair was in sydney but the seller was not contactable, i watched them on ebay but before i could bid they ended, it seemed VERY dodgy, selling for AUD $3500 through an ebay account with a pathetic picture and description and no feedback... he was uncontactable never the less :(
Why is BL1 so hard to find? I am enquiring about the Blue 1's at iconic, hence why i want to know if it's possible to re-case them! They are the only BL1's i can see around at the moment! More than av is too expensive and won't ship to australia anyway, they say that B&O don't make the packaging for BL1 anymore... well... yes they do> hehe never mind
I enquired about these but he apparently doesn't use ebay and paypal anymore, so, NO WAY! Fair price, but too much of a risk.

Take heart - I had a twenty year old pair of Beovox Pentas shipped from Sweden to the UK by surface mail in their original B&O crates and they arrived in 100% A1 condition. Get those boxes and you'll be fine.
Good luck :)

Oh that's right, if i am getting them from over seas i will be having them sent in original packs, like i did with my BC1. But there is no guarantee, only insurance. Didn't you hear about Lee's BL1's being smashed in shipping to a customer? After that he sent a MX tv without any packaging as an experiment and it arrived un scaved!!!

I didn't hear about the BL1s, but remember the MX as it was sent to his dad in Bradford (about 7 miles or so from me).
Seriously though, I had the Pentas sent from Sweden, and an Avant sent from Cambridge (not as far) in the original shipping crates and they arrived completely unscathed. Hope you have some luck soon though - I've hankered after a pair for a while, but have always ended up wanting to keep my amp + passive speaker set up. Lab 1s do butter my sprouts though with their height. Ooo err.

I had a pair of BL1s in dark green for about four years, flanking a green Avant, with green BL6000s bringing up the rear. I was never very keen about the sound of the BL1s; they were a bit antiseptic in the treble and very bass-deficient, although adding a BL2 subwoofer did help a good deal. I must confess I preferred the overall sound quality of the Penta IIs that preceeded the BL1s.
I eventually sold off the BL1s privately to finance the purchase of a pair of BL5s when they first came out. My dealer provided me with replacement shipping cartons, and I packed them up and shipped them off to their new owner in Canada. The sound of the BL5s was a vast improvement over the BL1s, although I have never really cared much for their appearance - a Danish friend refers to them as my samurai warriors. I much preferred the appearance of my BL1s, however, and still miss having them in my sitting room as the stunning pieces of metal sculpture that they were.
I also sold the Avant, much as I loved it, because the picture was just too small at my normal viewing distance, replacing it with a BS1 and a plasma screen. I still have the BL6000s, however, which do yeoman service as rear speakers in my bedroom system. I really loved that all-green system when I had it, however. It made a striking focal point in my contemporary home with all-white walls.
