How to remove platter on 1800?

I have a Beogram 1800. I know there are shipping locks located under the platter. How do I lift the platter to access the locks?

If it is the BG1800 from the 1980's it will simply lift off.

They can become a little stuck so you may need to "rock" it by lifting opposite edges alternately whilst using slight pressure in the centre. Welcome to BeoworldSmile

Yes, that's the one. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.

Does anyone have any ideas why the motor makes a ticking noise? Maybe there's a bump on the belt or something?

Not uncommon with these, it is old and needs replacing ideally. I think member Craig managed to prolong the life of one of these motors (on a Beocenter 2200) by spraying it with WD40 or similar.

No one makes a replacement motor that I'm aware of but there are lots of Beograms which use the same one if you can find a broken one with a good motor.

    Chris.

    EDIT :-

As we speak THIS thread has been posted - the motors mentioned are identical to the one your Bg1800Smile
