BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
Hi
I have a BeoCom 6000, that had an accident - it fell on the floor. Now the speaker in the phone is very low and it is very hard to hear the person in the other end of the line.
I have tried to adjust the volume, but it did not help. I guess the speaker inside the phone somehow got torn out of place or something like that.
So my questions are: Anyone tried anything like this? Can this be fixed? Can I fix it myself? If so, how do I open the phone without damaging it?
Thank you so much for any help you may have.

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
Well we've dropped them on the floor several times without any problems, except once when it fall in to pieces. But the dealer (or the service shop) put it together again. I thought thay had to get a totally new inside but everything was OK.
So my answers are:
Yes! Yes! Depends on your skills and knowledge! Don't know how to open it. A service manual would be handy but unfortunately not available on this site.
So I recommend a trip to a local B&O-shop.
Beovision LX5500, BeoCord V6000, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 3500, BeoLab 2000, BeoVox1, BeoCom 6000, Form1, LightControl 1

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
Arabica,
A Very warm welcome to Beoworld.
It is likely that the ear piece itself got damaged when it was dropped.
A replacement ear speaker is available from your B&O dealer and can be replaced in a couple of minutes.
To open the unit requires two screws at the base to be removed and a B&O tool or a wide very thin blunt tool can be slipped in either side of the top of the battery compartment and then either side about 2 cm from the top of the phone.

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
Hi again
We went to the delaer, and they wanted almost the same price for repearing it, as a new handset cost.
So we are now considering buying a new handset.
But what is the difference between MKI and MKII for this product?
Thanks.

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
The main difference visually is that the MK2 handsets have the socket on top for the Earset connection. The menu structure is also different and the MK2 supports multiple entries in the phone book, but this is only if the handset is registered to the latest BeoLine base.
If you have an older PSTN base, the MK2 handset is backwards compatible as long as it has software 2.5 or higher. One other thing to consider is that the chargers were modified a few years ago. The latest handsets will not charge on the older table chargers. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact date when the chargers changed. If you buy a new handset, make sure that you have the opportunity to try it on your existing charger.
Hope that helps.

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
Ok, I have your address and will post the speaker tomorrow or Saturday. Don't worry about the postage, it won't be that much. I find that a credit card cut into 4 strips is ideal for opening the case. DON'T prise it apart with a screwdriver, you will spoil the case.
Remove the battery (don't pull the wires, tease it out with a pointed thing like a pin) Remove the two screws. Slide the creditcard strips in each side and also at the top. This will dislocate the locking tabs.
Once you have the cover off, unplug the ringer speaker then undo the two screws holding the PCB in. Take out the PCB but be carefull you don't lose the two rubberstrips. If they come out, don't touch them with your fingers as they are contact strips and the oils in your skin will stop them working. You can then unplug the earpiece speaker and replace. Don't forget to replace the contact strips when you re-assemble the handset. If you wreck everything, don't sue me Give us a shout if you're struggling. Good luck.

Hi Andy
Thank you so much - looking forward to recieving it.
I am not sure about the directions though. I have never removed even the battery before, so could you explain it once more, even more detailed and slow? Or is the any other guides/instructions on the web?
Thanks again.

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
Hi Andy
The speaker come today - thank you so much.
But I am in trouble already, before I get the case opened. I can pull out in each side and lift them, but the back is still stuck - should I slide it off or something else?
Thanks again.

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
To get the Beocom 6000 case open you will either need a tool as shown in the picture or a very thin bladed blunt tool to slip down the side.
After you have removed the two screws at the bottom of the battery compartment, carefully slip the tool both sides at the top of the battery compartment only allowing the back to move apart a couple of mm (milli-metres) The two clips at the top (shown, but not mark in red in the picture) will effectively act as the hinge for the back. Now slip your tool in at one of the top holding clips and it will start to come apart.
The the two sections come apart be careful with the top two holding clips which are effectively acting as a hinge as you remove the back as they can break off if to much force is used. As you remove the back, the wires for the speaker will need to be unplugged, its just a push fit.

And on the top. There are two locking tabs here, so I used a wide piece of card.

8 This was to show what the locking tabs look like. Left click on any picture to see it bigger, then left click again to magnify.
Hope this helps you.

Re: BeoCom 6000 - Speaker problem
SUCCESS!!!
I have replaced the speaker and it works great!
Thank you so much - for the speaker-part and all the help. I only broke one of the top hinges - they were a bit tricky to get opened.
Thank you all again, so many times.
