How to turn off the auto dolby on beocenter 8000?

I just bought a Beocenter 8000 with a pair of RL 6000 in mint condition and it's a joy to use it,

BUT when I play my old tapes it instantly switches over to Dolby C and it sounds awfully. Is there any way to turn Dolby off?

(I don´t think I ever used Dolby C when recording these old tapes.)

By the way, is it possible to get a digital copy of the manual for the Beocenter 8000 and the Beo4 somewhere?

I would be very grateful for any suggestions on these questions.

    Best regards

    Lennart

    Hi

The usermanual is on this site, if you upgrade to silver or gold membership you get access and also support the site.

I own a Beocenter 9000 myself, but I am not sure if the tape deck can be set to dolby off all the time.

    best regards

    Christian

    Hej Lennart!

As Christian says you can acces all manuals if you upgrade your membership. Just checked and the manual for BeoCenter 8000 is available in English and French (as well as a service manual in English).

As a teaser I can quote what is said about Dolby:

Tapes recorded on the Beosystem 8000 contain information about the use of Dolby noise reduction (Auto NR codes).

When playing back the tape, the Beosystem registers this information and automatically selects the correct Dolby mode: Dolby B, Dolby C or no Dolby.

When playing back tapes not supplied with the Auto NR codes, you have to select the appropriate Dolby mode. Press Programming and then NR repeatedly to switch between the three modes.

Hope this helps and feel free to join as silver or gold member or just give a donation to support this enthusiast site.
