BV 4 103-inch on You tube

Found a brief video of what looks like a photo shoot for the BV 4 103 -inch w/ BL 10.

I'm shocked!!!! It's huge but really beautiful. Even BL5s look tiny infront of it!!!

Wonder who is going to buy that!

    Best regards

Don't you think that BL10 look little odd beneath this huge screen ?

    For me looks silly ....

LOL! I can't possibly take this thing seriously! BUT I DO LOVE IT! B&O never cease to amaze me! Who on earth is the their market? I can't wait to find out. The amount of space you'd need for that NOT to make a statement in the room...!!

    Cool!

It looks like this monster is actually mounted on a stand, similar to the BV 7.  Wonder if  it rotates like the BV 7.

I can just see guests heading for cover when this thing begins to rotate from side to side.  It could easily knock the average human over.

Absolutly! Imagine if you had a small child and they were stood or sat underneath it when the screen tilted up or down! It would frighten the life out of them!

That is what I thought too. Perhaps B&O decided not to make a bigger speaker as it would not go with the smaller screens.

My first thought when I heard about the 103" was "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"...

But after seeing it on photo and now in the video... it turned into "Oooooooh YEAH BABY". I will NEVER be able to afford it.. but it’s a beauty in a very special (almost kinky way). B&O clearly wanted to make a statement with this screen! There will be people on this Earth who will want this in their “living room”… Definitely! And if B&O can make a huge margin on it.. Hell yeah! Why not!

(but please… not a gold version!)

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

I'm afraid the only people that can afford this will be especially after a gold version Big Smile (and heck, I don't mind either)

103"... that's a little over two and a half meters... looks pretty much the same size as my living room window... hmmm... Hmm

My dealer told me that the screen itself will rise upwards when turned on, and the BL10 will appear from below, "duck'n cover" :)

He also told me that they are having som problems with the weight itself, something with the footprint of the stand being to heavy pr cm2, especially some old appartments in copenhagen with wooden floors and so on, might not support this weight :)

He also told med that some russian dealers has preordered a bunch of them (before the financial crisis though) :O)

I would love it, but the logistics, think about the logistics :) How to deliever this on the 5'th floor.....

    The best thing would be.

    1. Buy a new piece of land

    2. Build the socket of the new house.

    3. Install floor heating and the concrete base.

    4. Lay the wooden floors.

    5. Install BV4 103"

    6. Build rest of house.

    7. Sell house including BV4 :)

I guess wherever you place the TV, it will sure get pretty warm when you turn it on...so a AC might required too. I always think that making a 103 inch plasma or LCD is more about making a statement of the brand in the market...it will be nice if B&O can actually start looking into projector and screen, I guess they can do some amazing design and function, such as a screen with automatic masking screen when you watch a wide screen or cinemascope movie, although there are products like that in the Market, but I am sure B&O can do something surprising...

If we forget about the huge impracticalities, displays like these have their uses. No matter how bright, white screen projection will never have a decent contrast ratio unless you sit in complete darkness. Many people don't realize this until they have their projection setup installed (and some probably not even then Wink). Being hopefully on the quest for best possible image reproduction, I believe it's best B&O leave this alone and let others do the projectors. Image processors and control are already in the lineup anyway, so people are welcome to add a 3rd party projector.

But I believe B&O could easily build a superior motorized screen - fast and silent with some "magic" like the automatic aspect ratio adjustment you suggest. And not to mention being not an eyesore.

It has the same functions as the BV 7 40 stand, it does indeed rise to reveal the speaker when switched on and then allows tilt and turn, the whole thing weighs in at 500Kg and the price is around £75 - 80K the stand on its own costs £20K.  Obviously not designed for your average home but you can imagine some big companies putting one in their headquarters.

Those can be pretty much anything. The largest I saw in Beijing was on the outer wall of a hotel, more than five stories high.

But these are actually easier; because of the large pixel size they can be constructed from individual LED modules. And until lately, the resolution was often just standard definition TV, at the most. In the old days, sometimes even the blue colour (then very difficult to implement economically) was left out - the eye gets used to that suprisingly well unless you have a better screen to compare to!

It all seems a bit ridiculous to me, but yes I'm sure there will be people buying this thing. I presume it will have its own BeoSystem, as this is such a huge leap from the BV4 65".

I hope B&O don't make too much of a fuss with this project and haven't wasted too much time and money with it, because even at £80,000 I can't see it raking the $$$ in for B&O.

B&O didn't have to prove to me they could do this, because heck Panasonic already have and I've seen it for myself. It's an impressive demonstration of technology, but hardly a mature business concept for a company who are certainly struggling. I was glad not to read about any figures of this project in the latest (and worrying) financial report.

    VERY cool concept.

    I love the stand idea.

B&O should put the 65" and 50" on this duck and cover concept stand

A little off topic but we were at our dealer over the weekend. They had the 103 inch Panasonic on display. As it was a floor model the price had been reduced from $70,000 to $20,000.

Yes it is a very nice discount. This dealer seems to do that frequently. They also currently have a BV4 65 inch with ACM priced at less than $10,000, ..retail in USA is $13500. We purchased our Beolab 9s 1 1/2 years ago at a 40% discount after they were on display for about  one month.
