    New BEO 5?

    Hi there,

just got my new Beo 5 remote. The dealer left it with me but did not programm it. When acessing the setup, it displays a software age of 2007. Can anyone tell if I got an oldie here? Are there different hardware versions to the Beo 5 or are they all the same and I just need a sw update to the lates firmware version?

Do you have the Configuration software?

If you have the latest version, it will update the firmware of the remote as well, and your remote will be as new.

    Thanks,

I was reading that the softwaretool would update, that's fine, but I still don't want to have a old hardware. I am most interrested to know if there are different hardware versions of the beo 5 and how to detect that

If you press st.by and go, you get to SETUP menu, press 0, 0, go and you get the SERVICE menu. There you press the icon COUNTERS, here you can see the total up-time, how many times its been ON etc.

    Re: New BEO 5?

Whilst the Beo5 Configuration Tool will update the Beo5 to the latest firmware version 1.40a, there has also been a recent hardware change detailed below which is currently being phased into production.

It was found that 3rd party products with short or narrow infra-red receiver range would not work correctly. This particularly effected non AV products such as air-conditioning and curtain control.

The last update to the Beo5 Configuration tool version 2.20 provided firmware version 1.40a plus some code handling facilities in the tool to handle this issue.

A hardware update replaced one of the infra-red diodes with one that matches the narrow reception angle of some systems. Both a 850 nm and a new 950 nm infra-red diode are being changed.

So, either get the latest hardware version or have your unit upgraded by having the board replaced.

    Regards Keith....

thanks a lot for you replies. I checked the remote again. It says serial no: 20504***, Software 1.20a, last configuration 18-06-2007.  I also checked the counters. they say 519h "on time" but only 2h "active time".

What did I get? Can so look up for me how old th unit is by checking the serial please.

Well it is newer than mine which is serial number 20191**** but if got recently, it should be software 1.40a and as Keith says, the newer ones have upgraded hardware. When did you buy it?
