Bargains the ones we dont see

    Hi

after 2 yrs of looking for a BC9500 and being put off by the price I logged onto ebay at 7.20 am went to newly listed olufsen and up popped after a 2nd refresh a BC9500 BIN £225 for collection at Nottingham (ive been looking at them at £400 plus!). Before instantly buying it I checked and rechecked the description thinking something must be wrong?? The description was good. Three hours later I become a proud owner of this lovely BC. Works perfectly has a slight mark in the middle of centre panel but no problems.

It made me think though. How many "bargains" do we never see?? Some lucky soul sees it first. Does anyone have any examples??

    Happy man Andy!

Re: Bargains the ones we dont see

Yes, you have to scan all the time to find the bargins, I got a pair of beovox 5000 panel speakers for just 160 pound (with wall bracket), I called the same afternoon it came on dba.dk . The seller was surpriced how quick it went.

But a problem is that sometimes the seller worn't sell at the low bargin price and only uses it to get people interestet and start bidding. That can be annoying and sometimes a waste of time.

    best regards

You do definately get the odd bargain on eBay. My most recent was an AV9000 with Master Panel, BL6ks, BL8ks, BL5000 for £300. Can anyone beat that? :P hehe

    Now THAT'S what I call a steal!!

How on earth did I miss that oneConfused

The best bargains tend to be the ones on buy it now from people who don't have clue what they are selling. Only if you're lucky enough to spot them first of course.

I think my best buy was a superb Beocenter 7700 with MMC4 which I paid a riduculously low price for and when I got there it included 4 sets of speakers - white MC120.2s & 3 sets of CX100/50's and the MCP7700 which weren't even mentioned or pictured in the auction.

    How about a complete Beosystem 6000 (BG8002, BM6000, BC8004, BG CDX2 + MC120.2s) for FREE!

Granted the 8002 and 8004 needed work doing, and the MC120.2s have foam rot and a toasted driver, but still a cracking piece of good luck!

    It was this -

    180325200988

Had to drive to Newquay in the snow to fetch it mind, but for that money I didn't care! I basically rang him and asked how much he was hoping to get, and thats the price he said. So I just said, "Ok. I'll come now then!" Job done!

Fantastic, but do you want to swap for the Beosystem 6000?

I'd consider a swap for an immaculate Beosystem 8000, preferably in white, with a BC9000 and BG8002. And a CDX. And MS150s! hehe. I already have a Beosystem 6000!

No chance in white in the UK - I've never, ever seen any white 6000/8000 component on UK eBay in 4 years of looking!

Re: Bargains the ones we dont see

Could be the start of a long lasting and interesting thread.........

What is surprising is how long some of these bargains are actually listed for before they get snapped up..... The system Llew got was on for 3 days - he rang the number and got very lucky - well done Llew!

Andy, you definitely got a bargain - my finger hovvered for a long time over the Buy It Now button for that BC9500 - I'm in Nottingham - but in the end decided I liked my BS2500 better......  Did you know you can still get replacement mirrored panels from B&O for about £90? - Will make it look like new.

My biggest scoop on ebay was a Tandberg CD, Tuner,  Pre & Power Amp, Nakamichi 600 Cassette, Walker turnatable all for £150.  Sold it for £1,500........ Just like Llew, gave the guy a call and agreed on a price........

    Cheers

    Nigel

    Just looked on ebay....

You sure did move quickly Andy - I was refering to the same item that was sold on the 26th Jan by the same person - the first deal must have fallen through.

    Cheers

Re: Bargains the ones we dont see

    Hi Andy

Yes it went for the same price - sold to a guy called currentdumping who I think may visit this forum......... Your local B&O dealer will sell you the panels. He'll charge you extra for fitting them - I believe they're fittable yourself, although I would never attempt it myself - I'm very ham-fisted and would probably end up breaking them or at least scratching them[:'(]

    Cheers

I once bought a mint CD 50 for 5€. The seller said he was expert in CD-Players and that he was absolutely sure this thing had a broken laser unit. I think that - and the fact that he attached no pictures - was the reason why he only got 3 bids in five days.

Turned out he only inserted the CD wrong way round.

Re: Bargains the ones we dont see

Bargains do come up on Ebay and over the years I have been lucky to find a few. Ones that spring to mind are.

Mint CDX which I paid just under £40 for.

CX100's I paid £12 for. They of course had foam rot, but did come with the original B&O cables.

Beocenter4000 (Older Version), Boxed BG1500. pair of boxed Beovox P50's, also came with the bar type AM aeriel. All for £6.50.

Just got to keep on searching, and hope to get there first.

Just got lucky today as well!!!

Bought 1x Beocord 5000 white line 2 x Beocords 5000 blacks and one Beomaster 5500 all for 60 Euros.

Seller says they probably don't work but I think I should take the risk. These equipment were not hard to repar if of course there is failure!!!!

    Best regards

Cracking bargain last night - Beocentre 9300 went for £128 to someone with a username I_buy_used_beo so assuming some lucky someone on here has it. No pics put me off as well as it being in Cumbria but cash on collection so ad should have been accurate stating good working condition. Not bad for the money at all!!
