    New here....

    Hey everyone...

I think this place could be my new addiction. Terrible that a company could make such amazing looking and sounding equipment.

I just got a Serene... I'm alternating it's use with my iPhone. When I want to use a phone that has style and not everybody has. I'm now on the hunt for some Beolab 5 Speakers and a system to go with that. I might post some pics of our lounge room soon ( so you can see the hideous huge speakers we have and give some suggestions Super Angry )

Anyway just wanted to say hi and that I look forward to reading through the forum back log.

I got the Basset Hound! Didn't come with a Beogram though! About to go for a walk so will begin the task of waking him up!!

In response to the OP, the Beolab 5 is a superb speaker and will work with almost any make of system. Obviously there are advantages to being all B&O from an operations point of view but you will need to decide what you want your system to do for you. Do you want to store your music digitally for instance?

Whoops it appears I was mistaken, it wasn't a Jack russel but a Fox Terrier!

    Re: New here....

    Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure how we will store the music. At the moment everything goes over iTunes. So if we want good music we usually play from the CD direct. It just has a much better sound and sometimes the network has problems from interference. Microwaves etc.

I really like the look of BeoCentre 2 with the DVD and it seems we can get them from a good price in the UK now that the Swiss Franc is so high against the pound. I just bought a BeoCom 2(used online) for 500 swiss francs and will probably pick up a Beocom 6000 from the dealer new. Hopefully the phone comes this week... ( i forgot to check whether it would be compatible with ISDN )

So we have been kind of going nuts looking at all the options... but I think we need to just start focusing on one thing at a time. Maybe 1 purchase every month for the rest of the year hahaha

I have a BC2 and it is very good. However I still hanker after a Beosound 9000 as I would probably get a Blu-ray player these days and the BC2 is not going to be upgraded. The disadvantage of CDs is that one has to manually enter the information into the BC2 - iTunes collects the information automatically. Store your music at a high bit rate or using a lossless format and you will have a much more veratile system. If I did not have what I have already, I would get a Beosound 5 and Beolab 5s along with a big screen TV.

Go and have a play at your dealer and then decide - you don't have to buy from him! Although he may well offer you a discount if you mention how much less you could get the same equipment for.

    Re: New here....

OK, shoot me down in flames if Im lost, but is it not an advantage with a digital out if you're connecting it to BL5's?

And feel free to throw me up in the air for another shot, but I believe the only B&O CD with this is BS9000 and BeoGram CD7000?

The BC2 has a digital out as well. Pretty sure the BM5 will as well.
