Beolink 7000 - remote controller
Hi all,
Could anyone give me an idea of an approximate fair market value for a Beolink 7000 remote in good condition and fully working?
Are spare parts, battery packs etc. still available if need be...?
Cheers,
Michael R.

Hi,
I would say no more than a new Beo5. Spare parts were available the last time I checked, but that was some time ago...

Re: Beolink 7000 - remote controller
Not as many around as there were but with a desk charger and working batteries, £300-350 would be my estimate.
However there are issues.
1. Batteries - you can get a set made up though make sure they are the correct type.
2. The backlight for the blue screen may well be on its last legs - I don't know anyone who fixes this.
3. Any damage will reduce the price.

Batteries yes, other spares no longer! If the PC boards stop then it is beyond repair now. The replacement glass and panels are not available either.
Price £300-500 depending on condition....

I have some parts for the Beolink 7000. But I didn't understand your error description quite... so not sure which part you would need.

Re: Beolink 7000 - remote controller
Ok fellas
Thanks for your advice.
Although the 7000 unit is a seriously cool (& obviously still sought after piece) - it sounds to me that finding a good one in fine condition - AND KEEPING IT THAT WAY IF & WHEN IT GOES WRONG - is getting more and more difficult and expensive.
I get the distinct impression the 7000 unit can be somewhat delicate and temperamental - then often impossible (or frighteningly expensive) to repair. Right??
Would a good alternative to the 7000 be the preceding Master Control Panel 6500? I think I would be correct in saying there are still a lot more of them around, and they are more robust? easier to repair?(or replace) and above all - a LOT cheaper? I saw a MCP 6500 go on ebay the other week for 30-odd quid!
What do you guys reckon? a good alternative?

Re: Beolink 7000 - remote controller
Yes bentleyman, the MCP's are very robust functionally. They can be disassembled relatively easily, and even the wheel mechanism can be taken apart and cleaned. The only problem is the hinges are often loose on ones that weren't taken care of. Unfortunately I'm guilty of having bought the last set of hinges available from b&o stock. Replacing the glass panel is possible but is by far the most difficult and time consuming repair I've ever made on a b&o item. I thought because it was a white 6500 MCP it would be worth the effort. In retrospect though I'd recommend just buying a new one if you have to replace a broken glass panel.

Re: Beolink 7000 - remote controller
Cheers Camshaft,
On reflection then I think i'll go for an MCP 6500 - shame really coz the 7000 is super cool - but the MCP is the better option on balance i think.

@Ridax: Would those spare glass and mirror plates be for sale? I have two BL7000, both with scratches on the plates and would like to repair them.

Yes, all parts I have for the BL7000 are available for sale. Remember that replacing the mirror panel involves 2 solderings (but quite easy ones).

Re: Beolink 7000 - remote controller
Oh yes i agree Jandyt completely - the 7000 is an amazing thing in good condition etc. but seems to me when something goes on it there's a fair chance these days you cant repair it - or it will cost a lot to do so if it's possible.
In comparison the MCP is fairly bland, but seem to be a lot more robust, a lot more of em around, and if it goes wrong irrepairably, u can just find another one cheap and easy on ebay (cheap compared to the 7000 that it).
What system do you control with ur 7000?
Regards,
Michael

Re: Beolink 7000 - remote controller
I use mine to control my Beosystem 7000 and Beosystem 2300. The Beosystem 2300 is an early one so it has two way communication.
Beoworld's twenty-eighth ninth prize winner and fifty-first second prize winner. Best £30 I've ever spent!

I use it to control the lovely White Beosystem 7000 that I won on Beoworld! I also have it connected to my (one-way) Avant via a converter. Using AV, I can read Sat and Volume on the Beolink 7000, but obviuosly not the channel number.
