    Beovision 3

At this moment I have a MX7000 connected to Beocenter 2 and 2x Beolab8000. I am not a huge fan of lcd or plasma so I am looking for a Beovision 3 (at a very nice prince and 2 year warranty)

Can anyone tell me what I am going to get compared to the MX7000? Will the picture quality and sound be much better than with the MX7000?

    Thanx for any reply.

    Hi:

What size screen does the Beovision 3 you are looking at have? Having never used a Beovision 3 I can only give you limited information but perhaps it will kick the thread off:

The 28" model is inferior to the 32" model because the 28" uses a screen/chasis derived from the MX range of TVs whereas the 32" has a screen/setup simillar to that of an Avant.

Also, you will need to check what extras (if any) your TV comes with - Dolby/contrast screen/stand etc.

    Thanks

    Re: Beovision 3

Totally agree with Graham, the 32" model is far superior, it got better speakers too (the 28 model uses one fullrange unit, while the 32 model got a tweeter unit and a midrange/bass unit). And most people don't know this and expect the 28" model to sell at the same price as the 32" model. The 32" model also got 100 Hz technology (being an avant chasis).

So, to sum up, only buy an 28" model if it is very very cheap. Othervise, go for the 32" model. What kind of stand have you considered? There are some to choose from. Have a look at lifestyleav, they probably got some.

    best regards

    Christian

    Re: Beovision 3

Thanx guys, it is a 32 inch. It has also dolby digital module. The stand I want to use is the old stand from my MX7000. It is made of wood and aluminium with a motorised foot.

    Hi:

Probably the best choice re-stand. I have ranted about the specific stand for this TV before. I think it is OK but only if you have modern decor. Other people do not agree but having been watching too many Lost in Space episodes before going to bed of late, I expect any TV on that kind of stand to start rolling forward whilst bellowing "Warning, warning, danger Will Robinson!".

    Re: Beovision 3

Hi guys, totday is the day (for me). I got an offer from my dealer:

    - Beovision 3 32"

    - anti reflex

    - Beo4 (2004)

    - DDS module

    - year 04-2004

    - delivered and installed (on Beocenter 2 and 2x Beolab8000 I already have)

    - 9 months warranty

    - trading in a MX7000 from 01-2000

    - Euro 1000,00

Tell me I won´t regret this for any reason! Will it be a big improvement compared to the MX7000?

To be honest I would not expect a huge improvement over the MX7000 as the 7000 has an excellent picture and good sound. The BV3 obviously has a widescreen and the 32" has good sound - though interestingly it uses cheaper drive units than an Avant - but there is quite a bit of digital jiggery pokery going on and you will get more digital artefacts than on the MX7000.The screen height is actually slightly less on the BV3.

I think that is quite expensive as the BV3 is tricky to sell. I would expect to pay less than £700 and keep the MX7000 as well - he doesn't want the MX as it is also difficult to sell! Make sure the BV3 has an STB-C fitted and has the latest software.

There was also an update on the surround module to support DTS. Make sure you got that update if DTS sound from DVD is important to you.

    Cheers,

Hi Peter, can every dealer give me that update? This is stuff I know nothing about.

Both the surround software and the STB-C software are actually chips which replace the existing ones. Any dealer can get these. Should be included in the purchase price.

Do you know which version I need for the latest software for the STB-C? There are 2: 3,9 and 3,91.
