I went through my flat last night and found there were 11 items running permanently that didn't need too and 13 lights that are on in rooms I'm not using - have re-wired them so that they're not on when not being used and will be switching off lights when I don't need them. I used one of those computer socket things for the TV so that when it's in standby the DVD, lintronic, iPod dock, converter thing for sky Dobly Digital and power for scart extender are all switched off. Will wait and see if it makes any difference, but at least I feel like I've done something. Won't be switching of my B&O stuff though.

Following an earlier comment Joeybo..... re environmentally friend laight bulbs - I recall the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) recently calling for the production of unfriendly light bulbs to continue as there have been an increase in accidents in the homes of partially sighted people occuring possibly in the warm up period or just as a result of lower light output - if these accidents could be fatal the longterm saving for the health service would be a bonus??????
