When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

    Hi there

My aunt and uncle had a beovision L5500 which stopped working a few days ago. They were thinking of getting a replacement anyway, and also want a Harddisk-recorder of some sort. I mentioned a Beovision 8-32, but that is probably a bit too small, When will the Beovision 8-40 inch arrive?

    best regards

    Christian

    Hi,

I can recommend BV8-32. It´s nice, have a good picture, lovely sound. In my home it´s ok but probably a bit too small for a  large house and a big room.

Christian, do you have the specifications for the BV8-40 if it is included in the new catalogue?

Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

Beofan, I remember seeing your post, however I was interested in the specifics of dimensions of the TV, all the included connections, and whether it includes TIMER functionality. I believe this information would be included on the technical specifications normally seen in the catalogues.

    Robert.

Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

And that is all there is in the catalogue.

Regarding timer: I believe the current 26/32" has timer if you by the optional ML module.

    Living room: BV7-40 mkIV + V8000, BL5, BL3, BM1 and BS9000. Bedroom: MX3000 and BL4500 on MCL2-AV. Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

Thanks Christian, I have a BV8-32 with the ML module, will have to check that out as I will need TIMER functionality if I get a BS5, as timers are set at the TV for it, as opposed to the audio system a la BS9000/BS3200.

Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

    You are welcome.

Instead of timer in the BV, it might be possible to use the soon to come BeoTime.

    Living room: BV7-40 mkIV + V8000, BL5, BL3, BM1 and BS9000. Bedroom: MX3000 and BL4500 on MCL2-AV. Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

Thats correct, I had mentioned that as an option in a thread in the BS5 forum which discussed timer functionality. Will be interesting to see if its possible when Beotime is released. Out of curiosity, are any of the other new/soon to be released products included in the new catalogue?

Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

I don't know if it counts, but the BS5 / BM5 is (of cause) included. Otherwise no news really.

The 32" doesnt have a timer, even wit a ML module. There is a timer menu entry, however that relates to the timer of a connected audio master I believe, have forgotten what it actually does but is definitely not a timer to control the TV

Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

Thanks, I might consider trading in my BV8-32 for a BV8-40 on the basis of this info. I'm just awaiting the info on what connections it contains from a video perspective.

JK, I need the timer to control an audio system as opposed to the TV. Basically i want to set a wake up timer on the audio system (say BS5) in the living room, so as it goes off in the bedroom where I have a BL3500 only. I know BS9000 has its own timer function, but apparently the BS5 has to use the TV for timer functionality.

I just looked at the booklet, the setting I am referring too actually controls the on and off of a STB. Since the 40" will be a based on a complete different chassis compared to the current TV range I guess we have to wait until they publish the user guide or somebody actually sees one on flesh at a dealer.

I think since the probably se the same chassis in BV 8 40", BV10 and BV7 32 (if it ever gets updated) chances are that a timer will be there.

    Cheers

Re: When will the Beovision 8-40 arrive?

After reading the ref book for the BS9000, I see that in an integrated AV setup, timers are set at the TV also. Therefore I am now wondering is it actually possible at all to set a wake up timer in my setup? JK, you should be able to test setting timers with your BV8 and BS9000, although you mightn't have a link room to simulate my setup. On a side note, does anyone know if you can only display the time on a BL3500 if there is a timer set in the setup?

Just out of curiousity, do we know if the BV-8 40" and the upcoming BV-7 Mark IV have LED backlighting?
