    Masterlink Size?

    Hi All

I'm just about to masterlink two Avants and have decided that it may be easier to drill a hole through the wall and pass the masterlink and RF cable through. I did originally think of cutting the ML cable in two and using a junction box(to avoid having a hole big enough to get the ML plug through) but have now decided it might be easier to pass the ML cable with the ML end still on through the wall.

I haven't actually seen an ML plug in the flesh so can anyone let me know how big it is? I've borrowed a drill which I need to return before the ML cable arrives so I need to know how big a hole I need to drill.

    Thanks

If you measure the masterlink socket on your Avants, you will have a pretty good idea of its size...

How embarrassing! You're quite right! Just didn't think of that

Think I would stick with the junction box idea. It will require a much smaller hole. Masterlink plugs are 30mm at the widest point.

    So would I!

And it is not a hard job to connect the cable in the junction box, if you are not having 10 thumbs...

I was going to suggest the same thing.

I did the job soldering the cables as it's showed in the image below.

    Re: Masterlink Size?

Did you short-circuit the White/Blue and Pink and interconnect all ground terminals, which is automatically done in the junction box?

one thing I would like to add is when buying a masterlink junction box get a large as its very difficult to fit all the wires into a small!!  Its a very straightforward job you get the tool with the box.  Hope that helps

I have this short-circuit in another part of my ML installation.

    Re: Masterlink Size?

How about bending, carefully, the connetor lengthwise to the cable and maybe use some tape to keep it that way. Then it should go through a smaller hole than the widht of the connector.

    Re: Masterlink Size?

I have 2 junction boxes in my installation and now I wish to spilt a masterlink cable in 3 - but I do not have the space for a juntionbox - Do I have to wire pink to blue/white (as on the picture above)? and how do I do this with 3 cables? or do I already have this short-curcuit from the 2 existing juntionboxes, so I dont need to think about it?
