    Beogram 2402 Eratic behaviour

Hi, Sorry if this has been answered before but after an exhaustive search, I came up with nothing.

I have recently got a 2402 which has some eratic problems. Basically, when you have an lp, or 45, on the platter and press 'start' all is OK, pressing 'stop' does nothing and pressing 'pause' results in the arm raising but then the player switches off after a few seconds. This player was not used for many years and I have lubed everything I could find but I fear a cap or ic may have gone. Any suggestions?

    Cheers,

    - Douglas

Probably oxidation in the stop button, that's very common in these Beograms after standing unused for a long time.

Try activating the stop button several times, 40-50 or more. You may even add more than a fair amount of fingerpressure. I'm sure that it will make it work again.

The pause button should just lift the tonearm and stop the platter, that's OK. Pressing play will then resume playing (though you would need to press 45 if playing a 45rpm record).
