would this be a good move

Hi beoworld people ,there is at present on local auction a beosystem 2500 type 2606, beolink 5000, beovox RL 7000 type 6523, MCL 2P amp the starting bid is $1200 , my question, is this a system that I should aspire to owning ,will my beogram 3000 work okay with it ,is it way out there better than the beomaster 5000 I have or should I stick with the retro system I have to play my beloved Who records etc.?????????? so many Questions. ps thanks for the tv answer Peter it works just fine

If you are talking 1200 US$ then that sounds expensive to me but remember that I am only familiar with UK prices. You could probably buy that system on eBay UK for £450-500 tops.

Your Beogram 3000 will require the use of an external RIAA pre amp to function with this system so that is yet more expense.

The amplifier is no better than your Beolab 5000 but it may have different characteristics.

My opinion is give the auction a wide pass.

thanks Graham the money is kiwi so around 400 pounds but of course this is his starting bid it may not be his reserve I am quite happy with my beomaster 5000 and MCP 5000 with the beogram 3000 and beovox s50 but hey I seem to have caught the beoworld bug, already looking for the next system. thanks again for your input

£450 would only give you a Beocenter 2500. Not the external amp, and speakers, and Beolink 5000.

I do not think this system would be any better than yours. The amp won't be as good. You'll have much more wires (external amp, external RIAA)

Oh! Sorry, I never buy any of this stuff!Confused

I did hear a rumour though that if you advertise all this stuff together then you don't get so much money for it. Maybe I'm wrong.Embarrassed

£200-250 buys you a beocenter 2500 in the uk. On a good day, it'll get you an Ouverture for that money.

However, if second hand b&o is thin on the ground in NZ, then you'll probably have to pay a premium for it.
