do a mac need an antivirus ?

hi all, i know, a little bit off topic but after a long search(  without results) trough the net in millions of other mac forums i come home to the best forum ever.

i switched finally from pc to mac, so my question is : do i really need no antivirus on my mac and if yes, wich one would be the best ?

    grazie

No. You used to many years ago, but for the past 6 years or so, only the odd one or two Mac viruses have appeared which have all been eradicated pretty quickly.

The only reason to have one at present is to stop relaying Windows viruses via email. I did have one installed but I have let it lapse. If you have Windows installed via Bootcamp, you need anti-virus - I suggest AVG.
