Confused [*-)] ??? Trouble with LX2800 and DVD feeds only sometimes working where video works fine...???

I've just got myself a superb, white, LX2800 in mint condition.   Two loving owners.   Blimey, what a beauty...

Anyway, all is very well indeed apart from the fact that it seems to disagree with both of my DVD players.   The DVD signal seems to be getting through to the TV but the sound stops and the picture has horizontal sub flickering throughout the screen.

This has not gone down well with my kids of 3 and 1, who, if they don't get their dose of Oliver Postage's finest works on a regular basis make their views very clear.

The old VHS works fine as does the TV itself on a SKY dish signal through ye olde scart lead.

But only some DVSDs works through either my Toshiba DVD player or the super cheap (but does the job) Alba one.   And the funny thing is that it is different DVDs that work with each.   It is of course possible that both DVD players are on the blink at the same time, highly unlikely though - both of them were consistent performers with our old TV.

Has anyone else had the same problem?   Any technical advice out there?

    Cheers

    Strange...

I have the smaller model LX2500. I have had several different DVD players connected to it without any problems.

I have connected them to the LX through a SCART cable, and then I choose V.AUX2 on the remote.

    Regards,

    Erik

    Hi,

yes, i could imagine that the DVD player uses RGB and FBAS at the same time. MY old MX5000 does not like it either... i had to cut the RGB lines and Blanking (pins 7+11+15+16), so it uses only FBAS.

Try it on a cheap Scart cable...

    Very helpful Martin

Please excuse my ignorance but what are RGB and FBAS?    And how would i cut lines to produce just FBAS, would it be literally attacking the scart lead pins?   I could understand that from a 5 pin DIN lead point of view, maybe scart work in a similar way i.e. pins are allocated spedific feeds etc...    Or are there certain leads withint the scart i should cut?

    Many thanks!

Had this problem myself with an MX6000. Mine was a very simple fix, I swapped the Scart lead round the other way. Now I have no idea why this should fix the problem but it did. Got to be worth trying.Wink
