What lubricants can I use for a BeoCenter 9500

I am preparing to overhaul my BeoCenter 9500.  The doors over the CD and Tape are very sluggish.  I read through the service manual and saw a multitude of recommended lubricants (all in foreign language).  Can anyone recommend lubricants (available in USA) that I can use to lubricate the door mechanisms, tape deck, CD etc.?

    Thank you.

AFAIK the channels that the doors slide in are designed to run dry. The problems are usually caused by old lubricant that has been used inadvertantly. The old lubricant dries out and attracts dust which builds up in the mechanism and causes problems.

Clean the mechanism with a cotton bud damped in isopropanol and if the problem persists then look elsewhere.

Vaseline, it's acidfree and comes as a technical spray. Can be bought in electronic shops.

Don't spray! It will go to all the wrong places. If your lubricant of choice is in a spray can, spray it elsewhere first and then transfer it to the rails with a cotton bud or something. You will need very little of it. It would be best to clean off all old lubricant (and gunk) first, though; and it will be difficult without opening up the machine.

Thank you, I'll give cleaning the mechanism a try and lubricate with a very small amount of vasaline on a Q-tip if needed.

    Hi

I had the same problem with my BC9300, about 2 years ago.

I used Silicone Spray very gently and sparingly on the fabric cables and plastic runners. Silicon Spray is non-invasive, and also preserves fabrics and plastics.

The problem was solved immediately, and has not returned since.
