    Beovox C40

Found out that my wife's grandfather has a pair of absolutely mint Beovox C40 today.

    Never seen them before.

The condition of them was as if they where just unpacked. He don't use them anymore, and I had no chance of testing them, and not wanting to "robb" them away, since he's too kind to say no, even if he still wants them, so what is the chance of these actually still working, and how good are they, say connected to a Beolink passive...?

These will work well with a Passive.  The only thing to watch out for is foam rot - but as these use similar drivers to the C75 there is a good chance that they will not suffer. They canot be fixed to the wall as they do not have a bracket fixing.

Never heard a pair of C40's , but my Parents have a pair of C75's. These are very good IMO, can't really tell them apart from CX100's. Well my ears can't anyway.LaughingLaughing

Very similar to CX50's in sound - perhaps even a bit better due to the construction.

Almost guaranteed to have foam rot though.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

The C40 is indeed very similar in looks to a CX50. However they have more expensive drive units and a more complicated cross over (not difficult !) They also are constructed to have a Log Line layout so that there is a rear facing port which boosts the bass - though the effect is such that the performance of the CX50 which is a simple sealed box design is very similar. They are slightly sweeter in the top end and are well worth using.

OK, thanks, I'll make sure he saves them, or perhaps gives them to me. Smile
