    BeoMaster 5 vs BeoMedia 1

I'm considering getting a BeoMaster 5 without BeoSound 5, which will be operated via a number of link room TVs. Alternatively, I could purchase BeoMedia 1. Does anyone know if there are significant differences between the two in terms of:

    1 Capacity? I know the BeoMaster 5 is a 500GB device - what about the BeoMedia 1?

2 User interface? The BeoMedia 1 produces a simple list of stored albums - does the BeoMaster 5? Or is there any way to see album covers via TVs?

3 Cost? Are they approximately the same?

Finally, any other significant differences I should be aware of?

Hi, as far as I know, apart from higher storage capacity on BeoMaster 5, you will benefit from:

    CD artcovers

a faster processor for video clips

a DVI output (actually 2, but one is for BeoSound 5 only)

better sound specs (or so they say on the net!)

    Reunion Island is greeting you!

Re: BeoMaster 5 vs BeoMedia 1

    1- Yes. BM5 is 500GB, BM1 (latest model) is 250GB.

2- B1 is not only a list of albums, but also a list by artists, title, genre. In N.RADIO it`s genre, language, country...

My dealer confirmed, CD covers will be on BV`s screen (!?).

3- I think next year BM1 price will be around 800 - 1000 Euros (2000 Euros when new).

    Significant differences: MOTS and BS5.

Re: BeoMaster 5 vs BeoMedia 1

so can a track be queued with MOTS without BS5?

i can find no reference of album art in the manuals.

also if they can do this why not update the beomedia software to do it also as only once have a had a software update.

Yes, I think (hope!) MOTS can be activated by pressing GO long in play mode. In MENU mode GO long will have ADD functions.

Nobody really knows about album art in BM5 and BM1. But we know there will be a new Beoplayer upgrade for BM1and we know there is album art on BS5. The latest Beoplayer PC version has album art. I talked to one of the developers of BS5/BM5 and even he didn`t know anything about the new BM1 upgrade. Just that there will be an upgrade. There are other people working on BM1.

Re: BeoMaster 5 vs BeoMedia 1

What about future expandability? BeoMedia 1 which comes 'as-is', versus a BeoMaster 5 which gives you the capability of turning it into a BeoSound 5 should you want to, and is also more future proof in the form of much more powerful internals.

I would under no way consider a beomedia unless it comes with a significant discount. This thing is basically end of life / production is stopped.

I would buy Beomaster because I am hoping that down the line when they release the 2 way remote this will work without BS5. That would give me all I need and want.

Gee, any B&O video product could be considered an "end of life" product the day you buy it.  For instance, I purchased a BV9 last March 08, and now the latest one has the auto color management, but I cannot upgrade mine.

Just accept it as "so it goes"....
