    Laptop infrared port

    Hi all,

I'm thinking of using an old laptop I hav in order to make a small media center based on the xbmc medial player which I concider it very good.

    Two issues I'm considering.

1st. Is it possibel to use the infrared port of the laptop (which ideally is infront) as a receiver to command the media center?

2nd. Has anyone setup the XBMC media player to accept commands from Beo5?

    All input are highly appreciated

    Regards

    Spiros

    Best regards

    Re: Laptop infrared port

The Built in IR recievers in laptops are for transfers of files rather than remote control. Those recievers are only for short range and it will probably not be usable for remote controlling the system.

I don't know about the BEO5 and xmbc
