    TripEnglish:

If the French made a television I'd be first in line to buy it. It would probably made out of a rare and fragile wood with a leather remote and would only play music instead of the soundtrack to the video, but it would excite something in me that doesn't correspond to a line on a spec sheet.

Does this line of argument mean you would buy a French car then - simply because it is French? I think NOT Sad

Re: Have B&O gone mad with their prices?

I think the issue in some regions in Europe is more that income did not stand up to inflation. I moved to US 10 years ago and the almighty Avant was 10 cool K back then. The BV7 is in line with inflation, and technically can stand up on its own to most mass produced TVs.

To be frank,I know I got OK picture quality on my BV8. In fact I am just watching DVds and the 720P is nothng less then perfect for this.

For every naysayer, B&O to me is not just about technology it is about design as well. Why I dont like most new products, my heart is still with the BV5 and BC6 and BV7 as well. Only gripe I have is that BV7 32" (40" is adoreable) and BC6 are seriuously outdayed and I believe that slip was one of the many reaosn why they got a management shake up.

Just keep your current product line current, add more screen sizes and off you go.

Cover more price points. BV8 was a very good start even though I font think they sold much which I would book under design/craftmanship issue.

Re: Have B&O gone mad with their prices?

A while ago, a number of dealers came on board here, not initially declaring they were dealers. Trip, you were one of them - BeoLab another. The latter spent a long time defending BV7 against all and sundry, pretending to be a regular customer.

I think the League of Concerned Dealers should think about how they address B&O fans who disagree with them.

Parts of this thread sucks. And I don't buy the "our customers don't care about performance - they are aesthetes" line. If the future of the brand lies in the hands of people who never make the actual purchasing decision, but who use interior consultants, av specialists and personal assistants to do the job for them, then I think the dealers should be more concerned about that; and not about what a few concerned fans might have liked to see in the brand they love.

I buy the expressive, iconoclastic B&O products that perform, and I don't care what they cost. As far as I am concerned, B&O could set the price in the stratosphere - as long as there is a unique performance angle. For instance, now that I have found out what acoustic lenses do to sound, I would never dream of using speakers without acoustic lenses. In other words, B&O could charge double for those, and I would be forced to pay it, since no one else has a similar solution.

That happens for sure. I know of people who give their keys to B&O and basically tell them to install a system through their house. They don't walk in to their local store and make their own decision.

However, I don't see that as the problem. I'd be more concerned about getting regular customers in to the stores through 2009. I think once we get past end of Jan, when people receive their Christmas credit card bills, we'll see a big decline in retail sales across the board.

Actually I'm one of them, B&O fan and architect who try to put B&O in 70% of my projects...

So I have very good business relationship with dealers and they are more than happy when I walk into the store with my clients... basically cos I did a half job from them.

And on the end everybody is really happy, clients get peace of art in the terms of sound quality and the design, dealer sold their products and my projects looks better Smile

    So, to illustrate this:

Nothing should be taken personally here, OK? Material things, please - quarrels can frustrate and waste time, i just want to read about the above listed topic. Come on...

If one goes off topic, you don't need to make a big deal or even a mention of it. Otherwise this irrelevant and frustrating rambling can happen. It's boring to read, sorry.

    Now, back to the topic

I think there is a line.  Having visible pixelation on the screen or similiar that would show up and customers would complain. Same for missing connection options, i.e. why cant I just plug in my Apple TV into a BC6 or BV7 32, that should just work similiar to connecting a cable box.

Those things  play definitely  a role. The difference in PQ between a Kuro and a BV4 does not I think.

Re: Have B&O gone mad with their prices?

I think a big part of the premium they charge is due to the integration.

I have a very good AV-Sytem in my bedroom: Sony TV, NAD Amp, Kef speakers; but why do I watch my DVDs in the living room on the Beovision 7-40?

How to watch a DVD on the BV7:

    1. Get the remote

    2. Press "DVD"

    3. Dim the lights to Setting 6

    4. Enjoy!

How to watch a DVD in the Bedroom:

    1. Search all the 3 remotes

    2. Power on the TV

    3. Press "AV" 3 times

    4. Power on the Amplifier

    5. Set it in DVD mode

    6. Power on the DVD player

    7. Press "Play"

    8. Go to your lamp and dim it down

    9. Sit down, wipe the sweat from your face and enjoy

    No more things to say.

Is a Logitech Harmony in the box? No, but when I buy a BV 7 I get a Beo 4 or 5.

Also: Why should I buy an ugly plastic remote for 199€? A Beo 4 costs only 40€ more.

I prefer watching TV in the living room, with MUCH better picture and sound quality.
