The first house was wildly underdimensioned for its supposed pretensions. Ridiculous.
House two was clearly the owner's dream, executed without compromises. But in both cases the BL5s were placed wrong. In the BV9 room they are way back and to the sides, I first thought they were also used as rear speakers. B&O insists they can be placed where you want, but that's nonsense, and just feeds the preconceptions of critical audiophiles who get to listen to them when they are placed in such ridiculous fashion. They should have picked smaller speakers for that room if they can't give the BL5s the room they deserve.
In the BV4 room the setup could also be improved. Here, the BL5s are smack in the corner, which muddles and unnaturally boosts the bass. There lots of room to bring them away from the corner, on a diagonal, by a meter. The sound will improve significantly.
Interesting to see that they chose BL4000s as rear speakers, a smart choice.
