Which would you buy: BL10 or 7-4 to go with a BV7-40?

    Hello All,

    Preparing for Christmas?

I need your input ragerding which speaker I should choose for my upcoming BV7-40 purcase. My alterntives is the 7-4 or BL10. I.e the center mono ones.

I guess some of you of courese will give some comment about the looks, but I'm also interested if there is any major differences in the techn. and/or performance

Thanks to you all in advance

    Happy Christmas to you all!

I would go with the 7-4 purely on design. Also, the only way of mounting a BeoLab 10 under a 7-40 is with the special bracket.

Sonically, the differences between the two speakers are next to non-existent. The only difference is with the acoustic lens which is slightly different on the BeoLab 10, which isn't for better or worse really.

I can not comment on the 10. We have the 7-4 with our BV7 and our very happy with the sound.

    Unless I'm mistaken, you can't 'officially' connect a BL10 to a BV7-40.

From my experience, I used to own the 7.2 and moved across the 7.4 (under my BV7-40) and both have advantages and disadvantages. The 7.2 offered  'rounder' sound. The 7.4 is far better with voices, acoustic sounds and, of course, when you have stereo acoustic speakers to compliment the 7.4. All in all, with the BL9's, I prefer the sound of the 7.4 and would recommend this option. I prefer the look of the TV with the 7.4 underneath. The 7.2 was too wide.

I would vote for the BeoLab 10 for both sonic and aesthetic reasons. I find the low end much more taut in the 10 and like the "AV7" look that it gives. The STB bracket is a very minor cost to make the alteration.

    I would go for BL10, reminds me of classic B&O.... BV1, BS AV9000 ....

To make it a little less clear: I would go for the BL7-4. IMO, the BL10 looks awfull. I have heard it once, and IMO, it is not at all worth the extra money. Not to mention that it looks awfull... Stick out tongue

The BL10 has slightly more cabinet volume and its performance is considered marginally better. It looks great placed on a wall with a large TV above.

All things being equal, which they never are, I would go for the BL10. On a 7-40 it bulks out the under section of the TV quite a bit so if the TV is placed on a wall or infront of a wall its does not matter. In front of a window the BL7-4 works better for us.

I'm curious about if the difference between the acoustic lenses makes a difference to sounds, and WHY they are different? I've noticed that they are different when i saw them, bl-10 is approx 120 degrees and bl-7-4 is 180 degrees... Geeked

I think this is more of a design question, as both speakers have a very similar spec and performance. Personally, I love the BL7.4 and would stick to that. The BL10 is still having to grow on me.
