    Well done!

I was given a Beosystem 6000 earlier this year, and am still thinking myself lucky. If Robert in Southport is reading this, then thanks again!

The Beomaster 6000 is a great amp :)

When i plugged it in yesterday it worked fine, except from the volumen control not responding. So i fetched the sercive manual and opened the beast up. The rubber band from the servo motor to the potentiometer was wery dusty so i cleaned it and it works just fine now, I use it as an headphone amp at the moment, together with a beogram cd 3500.

It got some problems with the display (which i recon is common), there is no light in the volumen scale, it can only display 75,4 mhz although the radio and clock works fine, but that is not a big problem... But wow it is a large piece of kit! Cant really imagine the BM8000 being even larger!

The frequency display problem is the prescaler chip if I remember correctly.

Thanks, is the IC easy to replace? And where can one get the spare part?

It is a U264B but it can be quite difficult to source as it is discontinued.  Once you get it, it should be no problem to replace if you have basic soldering skill (you can cut the old chip away to ease desoldering of it).

Just came back from a holiday.

A Beomaster 6000 like yours are the same size as the Beocord 6000-8000-9000 basically. The Beogram 6000-8000 is nearly the same.

When you get to Beomaster 8000 you will be in trouble if you don't have the original type of stand.

The Beomaster 6000 stand is 105cm and the Beomaster 8000 is 120cm in lenght.

As you are Danish you can read all about my B&O here:

Your problem with frq is covered too. I never had the problem with the 2 6000's of mine but now I know why.
