    Light control

Do anybody knows which it the best and the easiest brand for operating light with BEO 4 ?

When I said easiest I mean that I dont need to renovate my flat to install dimers and swiches Smile

    Thank you Phil!

Raone smartdimmer look like a great solution, bu I wondering can I replace my existing on wall switch with smartdimmer ? And how can I install it ?

You said that you have them.... it is hard to install ?

Jbmedia micro modul is again great solution ... does it have all control from beo4 like a smartdimmer ?

    Phil,

I see you favour the Innovus.

    1. Does it work in a British two-wire system, or does it need a proper supply (live and neutral in, switched live and neutral out)?

    2. How did you fit them over a standard British pattress?

    Re: Light control

There is a dimmer from Lutron. It's called Rania, and it's easy to install. But it only can be controlled with the Beo5, not with the Beo4, and it can't be labeled with a number, so, if you have 2 in the same range, both will respond to a Beo5 command.

Keith explained it some time ago.

Well, I have two Rania dimmers on my bathroom outside the door as below and have created an XML file to control them

These Rania dimmers have a remote control BUT are NOT B&O compatible. With the created XML file you can set 4 different scenes, raise and lower the light level and switch on and off. The display is below

You can download the XML configuration file HERE

It is in a zip file and extract it to C:\ if your Beo5 Configuration tool is in C:\Program Files as the default for installing version 1.30 was C:\ unlike the previous versions.

    Re: Light control

I would like to go for this solution but I wonder if the reception will as good as the LC2. This receiver can control modules which can be integrated behind existing switches.

The connection is similar to LC2, you need Neutral in and Line in, Neutral and Live out. Earth is not necessary.

They do not fit on a pattress, they are more designed to be fitted on the wire that goes to the lamp.

That said they could possibly be fitted on the wall with a trick:

They unclip a bit like a hat box. The bottom part is empty, the top part contains all the electronic and the connections.

They are normally designed so that the wires come from one side of the top part and come out the other side, but the bottom cup is in a quite this plastic and you can cut holes, so that both wires can come from the wall and go into the wall, unseen.

I have fitted them on the ceiling like that.

    Re: Light control

I too have the iLight solution - all round the house & it works a treat especialy with the Beo5 (I have put together some great macros - even one from the bedroom to put the light on in the bedroom, stairs & kitchen so it is not dark when I get up in the morning!)

Another great advantage of iLight is that  you can actually buy the software for programming the system - it uses a simple intuituve approach and hours of fun can be had playing! (this compated with Lutron Homeworks which was the only other comparable system I could find - impossible to buy, and as for being able to get the software to program it - no chance!).
