BeoPort - does the sound really only come from the minijack socket???

    Hello Fellow Beophiles

I have just installed my BeoPort and I was surprised to find that I could only hear music if I connected the minijack from the computers analogue output socket to the ‘AV in’ socket in the BeoPort.  I had assumed that, like the other information (photos, TV etc), it would be communicated through the USB port.

Have I installed it right?  I have read and re-read all the literature I could find and I can not find any information on which signal uses which communication route.

    Does anyone have any advice?

Many thanks for the advice in advance and a Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope your Christmas stocking is B&O shapedGift.

    Cheers

    Ben

Re: BeoPort - does the sound really only come from the minijack socket???

    Hello Ben,

As far as I know, you installed your Beoport in the right way.

It works fine for years now in my setup (I have a Beolink PC2, which is the previous version of Beoport. It's exactly the same product, only the name changed).

You should be happy with it, no matter which cables are used.

BTW, Beoport is not designed to send video signals through ML (Video is sent through standard coax antenna cable).

    To summarize:

    - You can only transmit music to your system (N-Music, N-Radio and PC-CD ) through the minijack cable),

    -  ML is used for the control of Beoport from the main system or of remote sources on your PC (audio and video if you have a supported graphic card, which means that your PC is rather old).

    - USB is used for control of the Beoport by the PC.

    - The "photo" part of the software is for PC use only.

    Hi Yann

Many thanks for the quick and knowledgeable reply.  Perhaps you would be kind enough to help me with one other point, in the control bar on the RHS of the screen it shows 7 options as follows:

    N.MUSIC

    PC CD

    PHOTO

    N RARIO

Below that is has the following options:

    RADIO

    PC

    CD

What are these second set of options for?  They don't seem to do anything.  Sorry to bother you with these questions but I have not been able to find anything in the literature or in the BeoPort guide included with the software.  Please feel free to direct me to a user manual if one exists.

Once again many thanks for the help and support.

    Ben

Re: BeoPort - does the sound really only come from the minijack socket???

    Hello Ben

PC is a function to hear the PC sounds in your speakers connected to the Beoport (if you have them). It turns on the speakers too.

Radio is to hear the analog radio, if you have a B&O audio system connected to the Beoport by Masterlink.

CD is the same as Radio, if you have a CD B&O system connected.

There is a Manual section in this site. Click on Home and find it. You can download the Beoport manuals.

    Regards

    Quim
