    Beovox 3705

    Hi,

On German eBay a pair of Beovox 3705 is for sale. I can't find any reference on BeoWorld nor on BeoCentral.  Is the 3705 just an updated verion of the 3702? No match on Google either.

     Ebay link:

I never saw these before.  Geeked

The midrange and tweeter looks like 3702 in the Goodmans "ACE" version. The woofer looks different though, more like a Beovox 1200 or maybe slightly bigger.

Probably this was a rare, small batch of speakers where the midranges were too small for their mounting holes, and therefore the model number was adjusted Stick out tongue

Definitely a Goodmans tweeter. It's the same as the one used in my Goodmans Ministers.

Rare indeed but regarding the midrange mounting, however odd it looks, the Beovox 3702 were produced like this in large numbers.

I'm amazed at this, that is seriously shoddy workmanship. Would you mount a driver this way by design? I think not....Surprise

I'll vote these puppies #1 on the long list of B&O speakers where you definitely want to keep the frets on Big Smile

    Re: Beovox 3705

To increase the geekness factor, there were two different versions of Beovox 3702.
Type 6263 had a somewhat larger cone midrange that (almost) fitted the cutout.
Type 6244 had the Goodmans ACE midrange (in most of them at least).

Not the worst sounding speakers BTW.

    Re: Beovox 3705

These are no relation to the 3702 speaker.  If you look at the front grille of the 3705 it is from an earlier time  - the logo and the cloth are very different.  They are closer in appearance to the earliest 5000 from the late 60s - probably this was part of the replacement speaker range  for the Type S, B and M.

I do not have the 3705 in any of my catalogues - but I can't find my one from the 60s at present!

The grille on the 3702, 3800, 5700 etc is dark black and the front has a small plate B&O logo that can be turned if the speaker is mounted either vertically or horizontally.
