Free to a good home - various LX, MX, Avant - come and get 'em
Note - if this is regarded as too "commercial" a post by a moderator, then feel free to remove with no hard feelings......... After a bit of trauma on the North West Freecycle sitetrying to give away some old CTV's (why would anyone ask for something they have no intention of ever collecting ?!?!?! ) - I wondered if any BeoWorlders would like a free CTV. So, on the assumption this post remains, and in the festive spirit, I have the following TV's that are available to BeoWorlders absolutely FOC, gratis, and with nothing to pay. LX5500, type 3903 in pristine condition, with a Blink 1000. One careful owner, nice all-black cabinet. Lovely example. Avant 32 VCR, curved screen, type 8423 VCR is a bit iffy, beo4 a bit tatty - would be OK in a kids room, or bedroom, or even as a link speaker that happens to have a screen. No remote. Avant 32 VCR, as above, but the tube is getting a bit tired. Avant 28 VCR, curved, type 8103. As above, OK but maybe not as a main TV. No remote. MX3500, type 3163. Perfect Link TV. No remote. To be fair to anyone who is interested, these will be given away on a first come - first served basis. If you want one, please PM asap. Collection only - ideally with the next week. More to follow ( avants and MX mainly), but they are off-site. No warranty is given with these sets, as they are free, but I hope they will give years of pleasure to owners who will apreciate them. Best regards David

If only they were closer! Over 500 miles round trip makes them out of reach. I do hope several people take you up on this offer.

Very generous. And the 5500 is a superb set - just about as good a picture as you will see. Excellent link set.

Come on you lot, get real, not really generous. They are hardly saleable and if you don't do him a favour he will have to pay to dump them !! Dealers have got rooms full of these things as part of the B&O trade in scheme. They have already cost the dealer at least £250 as their contribution to the £500 part ex offer and they don't want to pay out any more money just to get rid of them.

Merry Christmas to you too! Looking on eBay Avants and MX's still sell, not for big money any more but there are always takers so I am not sure that's completely fair. Simon

Nice to see some positivity Graham.. I know for a fact David had an offer from an ebay 'dabbler' to come with a van and collect the whole lot in one go. He declined the offer and said he would like to see if anyone on BeoWorld wanted any of them first, and any left over the guy could come and collect. Storage also isn't a problem as he owns the freehold on a small warehouse unit. So, not everyone giving something away for free has selfish motives... Lee

You have me all wrong Lee. I don't like to see the wool pulled over the members eyes by anybody, even you!! Without a decent remote the TV's are worthless even to your so called "eBay dabbler". Positivity is fine but not at the expense of the membership. I have done enough marketing in my time and know how to recognise spin.

I think it was a very nice gesture from David for whatever reason and some members of the forum that probably need and cannot afford can benefit from this. Frankly spoken I cannot understand why this is a problem. Too bad I live in Greece

I really don't want to get into a fuss over this .....joey/graham - you may feel these are older sets are worthless - but based on the response, others would seem to disagree. As to the marketing/spin side, well...maybe just a little bit. But the reality is that these sets do have a value (to those who value them) and can use them in a second/third room. And I suspect I'm not alone in having the odd spare remote tucked away in a drawer, so I assume many Beoworlders would find this far less of an issue than a member of the "general public". Regarding the cost of scrapping - being a bit of a weekend hippie, the very last thing I do with anything (including boxes/old manuals/cables etc ) is scrap them. That is why we seperate all the cardboard from the new boxes for recyling, and why we also use the Freecycle website to dispose of some stuff we can't (or wouldn't want to) sell via the shop. In summary, if someone gets a few more years out of an old MX or LX, even if its a bit tatty, then that suits me fine. As it happens, any TV's that do end up being scrapped are taken (at no cost) to a recycling facility for electronics just outside Oldham. Lee/others - thanks for your support here, and taking the offer in the spirit it was intended - Joey has a point, in that a large CTV is not high on everyones wish-list nowadays, even less so a used one - however, if I was simply after a bit of cheap publicity, there are other things I would do before offereing a few 10 year old tube sets to Beoworlders !!

Well I think you are a true gentleman Dave. I have bought my son Sky+ for Christmas, but he has an awful TV. If I can get hold of you, I would love to relieve you of an Avant 32

I want to say a public thank you to David.
I collected a TV from this offer on Sunday.
My wife is very pleased - she's usually quite
hostile to my ideas about getting more B&O, and even suggested NOT
collecting it - but having seen it in the sitting room, even switched off, she's
had a change of heart. Having seen it switched on, she's really pleased. This could bring her around from the Dark
Side.
Thank you again for your generosity, which is very
much appreciated.

I would like to add my thanks too. I picked up an immaculate LX5500 today and I am delighted with it. A credit to the good folks of B&O Manchester and it's previous owner.

Re: Free to a good home - various LX, MX, Avant - come and get 'em
Just picked up my piano black 32" Avant yesterday from King Street and am totally over the moon. David took time out from his very busy schedule to give me this and I feel very privileged to have this dealership as one of our members. They are a credit to the B&O brand and IMO if all dealers were this good then the current troubles at Struer would be nowhere near as grim. Chris.

Very nice Chris, unfortunately I was a bit too late replying to David's kind offer Although my local dealer has offered me a silver 28" Avant VCR for £100. Should be going to take a look at it this week. Craig
