Re: Is BeoSound 9000 stll the best B&O audioystem ?
I would recommend BS9000 if you: - like its design and can't live without it - have a lot of CDs and prefer listening to several of them at a time (plus your local FM radio) - more than to music files from other sources - considered well how it functionally fits with the rest of your B&O (perhaps also in the future) (- ideally, use its dig out to BL5s, which should be logical since you like CDs ...) Regarding the 320kbs: I could hear the difference compared to CD (a good one and through BL5s) but have to say that I tested it with music I knew very well, and with casual listening am in doubt I would be able to, especially with music I don't know well (- am not that old but getting older - as is BS9000).

BeoSound 5 if you're ready to dive in head first into digital music. BeoSound 9000 if you're heading into your twilight years and uninterested in this "new media." BeoCenter 2 if you're a masochist. BeoSound 4 if... um... well I'm sure there's a reason around here somewhere. BeoSound 3200 if your love of digital music is matched only by your love of complexity. BeoSound 1 for, well, just about anyone. BeoSound 6 for those who don't know any better. BeoSound 2 for the whimsical. BeoSound 3 for the ultra-whimsical (read: French). BeoDock for, oops, I mean nothing. Nevermind. Hope this helps.

Hey! Big fan of the BeoSound 4 here!
I'd actually agree with you RE the BeoSound 5 - B&O's best yet, by quite some leap I would say...

I heard about it from a dealer this summer... Not in details though. Any time frame that you can tell us about?

What about the White Beosound 9000? Is it for designers in their twilight years?

Re: Is BeoSound 9000 stll the best B&O audioystem ?
With B&O the amplifiers are in the speakers, so it is likely to be these which will make the most difference in term of sound quality. Olof:and can you hear a difference if you use it with BeoLab 3 speakers comparing to mp3 with 320kbit/s ?
Use a lossless compression algorythm if you want to be sure not to lose any quality. p.
