info about the new "adaptive sound technology"

B&O wrote this when I asked about the technology:

There are basically two main advantages of Adaptive Sound Technology. The first is to give the customer the freedom to place loudspeakers and listening positions arbitrarily, as most people already do, without a severe loss of spatial qualities in the recording.
The second is to give the customer the convenience of placing the sound stage wherever he or she wants, thus having multiple listening positions such as the living room couch, a favourite chair and the dining room table. These could all be facing different directions, yet the sound appears in front of the listener, who experiences to be always placed right in the sweet spot.

Adaptive Sound Technology is the continuation of our aim to give the user the choice of a better Listening Comfort. Other elements we have introduced are a.o. the Acoustic Lens Technology and the Adaptive Bass Control that also gives you a greater freedom in your listening experience.

Hi, I sent a question to B&O in Struer IF Beovision 7-40 Mark III could be upgraded with the new sound-technology. The answer is YES. We can upgrade our Beosystem 3/BV9 or BV7-40 markIII with this new technology.

Re: info about the new "adaptive sound technology"

You need a hardware update to make this option real!

In the Sound menu, at the bottom you will find the menu item 'AST' (it cannot be selected), this is for future use, AND requires a new hardware version of the DSM module. AST is a new way of making Stereo and Surround sound. More information will be available when the new DSM module is launched.

I got a software update and also found this disabled AST menu item. Now, what please is a DSM module?

DSM = Digital Sound Module (I believe). It's basically the sound processor in the BeoSystem 3.

Is it correct that AST only work with 4-6 Beolab's 5 in room ? Anyway ,I don't trust this ,its like the mega virtual dolby surround from other manufactures.

Is this only available on the up-coming BV7-40    not on the BV10 later this year.

Re: info about the new "adaptive sound technology"

This technology will be available for Beosystem 3 based TVs. We don't know anything about the audio processor of the BV10, only that it will not be a Beosystem 3. Maybe B&O added this feature to the BV10 but I doubt they do that, just in order to differentiate the TV portfolio (BV10=more simple than BV7/9, but better than BV8).

    How does it work?

must there be a microphone connected to system3 at the listen position?
