    Beocenter 2200 cassette problems

How do you test a playback head? At the moment I ma trying to fix a Beocenter 2200 I was given. Last night I fitted a new set of drive belts (Thanks MartinWink) Now I can only get sound out of the Left channel. All othere sources work ok and I have swapped the two connectors over that come form the playback herad. This causes no sound in the Right channel instead. The wiring is fine between the head and the connectors. Although I always thought when a head went down on one channel you got strange ohm readings accros the head. Tested both channels and got a readings of 212.3 and 212.5 Ohms.

Well I did think they may be a problem with the cables. Tested them from the plug to the head and there are no problems as far as I can tell. Where does the middle wire from each plug go? As there are three wires at the plug but only two go to each channel of the head.

    Re: Beocenter 2200 cassette problems

Ok well I have sorted out the problem with the head. Chris(Medogsfat) supplied with one had. Now I have noticed that the cassette rewinds when I try to fast forward. It rewinds ok whn I press rewind though. As far as I can tell I have the belts on correctly. This is the ast problem I need to sort out. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Strange fault indeed. Can't you find out whre the commands come from ? Surely something must be shorted somewhere.

Looks like I will have to try to get to the PCB with the control switches on. Looks like an awkward job to say the least.Sad
