Dear all, I have bought a beocenter 2300 some time ago, and its works well with my beo4 remote. As I understand it can work in two-way, so I try to get myself a beolink 5000 remote. Okay, I finally got myself a beolink 5000, but I am having another problem again.[:'(] It always says on the screen "no contact" when I am trying to set up clock or timer or other function. It do once occasssionally work through to the stage that allowing me to set "day" then its "no contact" again. Could anyone suggest whether is my remote not working or is the player itself not working...........????? If the remote is not working, how much will it cost if I get it to fix??? Many Many thanks to you all!!!! Jsutin

Make sure the remote itself is in 2 way mode. When you press CD, do you get "CD 1" on the screen, or just "CD". p.

Hi, I have placed three brand new batteries into it. And I have also get access to the "terminal setup" to make sure it works in two-way no matter is in video or audio. When I press 'CD' button to start playing, it only show "CD" on screen, but not "CD1". Does any of these help?? Many thanks

Your remote is still set in 1 way, at least for the Audio side, otherwise it would display CD 1. If the remote was set in 2 way and the Beosound was not responding it would display NO CONTACT.

Was there a 1 way version? Also the remote would display NO CONTACT when pressing CD and the hifi would not respond if the remote was set in 2 way and the hifi was 1 way. Make sure the TV and Hifi have the right option settings as well. Audio 1 and Video 1 or Audio 0 and Video 2. If you have Audio 1 and Video 2, you might get a conflict. p.

Only the first BC 2300 were 2 way. If you try to control a 1 way product via a 2 way remote it will display no contact. Set the BL 5000 to 1 way. If this works with BC 2300 you have a newer one. Stefan

Stefan, the first affirmation is true, not the second. A BL 5000 set to 1 Way would work like a Beolink 1000 and would control any hifi (that is Beolink 1000 or Beo4 compatible) whether it is 1 way or 2 way. p.

No, it's the opposite, when batteries are replaced, the Beolink 5000 reverts to 2-way mode. (i just checked) Justin, the original poster of this topic already mentioned that at some point, he got through several steps of the procedure and then got "NO CONTACT", so both the 2-way of Beolink 5000 as well as the BC2300 do seem to work. Could infrared interference or dirty ir-transceiver be the cause ?

Firstly, thanks a lot to you all. I do know there are two versions of BS2300, I am not sure whether mine is one way or two way version. I assumed that it is the two way version since it doesn't got any timer button on it or any menu button on it. Sadly, I can only control on/off, volume up/down, next/prev songs, mute, other than that, all buttons doesnt seems to work when the remote is being set to two-way, it only shows "no contact" But, surprisingly, I can use any buttons on it when it is being set to one-way, just like beo4. Really annoying Where about is the IR receiver on the remote, how can I get access to clean it??? I now start to know why B&O doesnt carry on with two-way remote. At first I thought it must be fun to have a remote that actually communicate with the player, but it just end up with more problems ......

Sounds like the 2-way of BC2300 isn't working, as only the basic commands are accepted, not the ones that require feedback. But i'm no 2-way expert, i'm sure others know what might be the cause !

Two way BC 2300 are type EU 2616, GB 2617, produced 1994 - 2000 (information from Beoworld`s product side.....). You can see the IR transmitter of the two way version on the left side at the bottom, I think. I don`t know exactly, I don`t have a BC 2300. But you can see the commands sent back to the remote through a digital camera - if they send. Does the BL 5000 display show VOLUME 24 - 26 - 30.... when you press vol. up/down? BTW: 2 way is really great. I have a BC 9500, two BS 7000 with MCL 2As, BL 5000s, BL 7000s, timer controlled link-light sets. The remotes can display the clock, and it works since 20 years when I bought my first BC 9500 and BL 5000. Now I even control my curtains via the MCL system. Stefan

As Stefan says, check if your BC2300 has a small window at the low left corner. If not, then yours is a one-way version. The window is at the opposite side of the headphone jack.

Oh, that was sad news :-(
Regarding the timer: I once had a one-way 2300 and it gave me some problems - it was placed in my bedroom, but when I used a bl5000/7000 to program my livingroom system (bs7000) my one-way 2300 obviously accepted some of the orders that my remote sent to rhe bs7000. Result: my bc2300 started playing radio in the middle of the night (the clock setting was not correct, hehe)... i sold the 2300 many years ago, but I remember that I had quite a problem when trying to delete the unwanted timer programs in it (I don't remember the procedure)
It seems like B&O didn't remove all the 2-way code in the 2300 when they removed the 2-way IR hardware. Quite the opposite as the software crippled early one-way mx6000/7000.
